I waited seven months, while the dealer assured me that Fender was implementing quality control procedures that would be worth the wait for this $2000. bass.It arrived missing a tuner attachment screw, which was identified by marker pen but not corrected. The tone control would not turn properly because the pot was open due to poor assembly, can`t believe it was`nt noticed when installed.I hope Fenders` new improved quality control does not dissapoint anyone else.

what did your dealer say when they delivered your bass? the dealer suppose to be the last defense before you take possession of your new bass...they should have inspected it - shouldn't they?

The dealer, Long&McQuade, did not inspect the bass.Fender, customer support, offered to send me a screw for the tuner and suggested I take the bass to a dealer to service the tone pot. Unacceptable to me, I used a screw from the bridge cover to replace the missing tuner screw and repaired the tone pot that was coming apart. All is well, except my faith in Fender quality control.

So you ordered the bass from this dealer and they just handed you the bass with out inspecting it?? I would go there and complain if I were you. That is unacceptable. There is no way I would repair a brand new bass my self. That's just me tho. Glad you got it fixed.

I purchased one of these in 09 and not only that it was very light in weight,it didn't sound or feel like the 75 RI' that I had in 02,so I took it back to the store, and I've played a few this yr of 2010 and wasn't impressed at all
For $ 2000.00 it has to be a whole helluva lot better than what is current for a 75 RI. :(

Interesting. Y'all paid upwards of $2000 and had problems like this? Terrible. I only paid $300 for my Squier VM Jazz bass (basically a '75 RI lookalike) and it had none of these problems. For that much money you should get at least the same QC as I did on my Squier.

Why would you spend $2,000 on a reissue when you get a real 75 for the same price?

I would guess it's easier to find, and it's the only way to get one in "new" condition. Tha's just a guess on my part. I wouldn't get either, I'm quite happy with my $300 Squier version.

IDK Bat, I'm happy with my VM, but I'd be more than happy, if I had the cash to own a '75 reissue.

btw, is the '75 reissue a CIJ or MIA?

If I were to be totally honest, I would be too, but since I can't afford one, the Squier is more than enough. No regrets :)

I don't know, but I would suspect from the cost, it's MIA.
