Well, I don't know the size off hand, but if you're looking to replace them, you can get genuine Fender replacement pickguard screws at Musician's Friend. You get 24 screws (always good to have spares!) for $4.04, shipping is free.

Another possibility for you is from "AllParts"... The link below will show you many varieties as well as special application types:

Yah, Allparts is good, but they also charge a minimum of $7.00 for shipping. That's a total of about $11.00 for pickguard screws when you can get them for a total of $4.04 at MF with their free shipping. Unless you're gettting a bunch of other stuff as well from Allparts, it's not worth it.

Twist them out of the bass and sand 'em with some low-grit.

As I have an Amazon Prime membership, and I would get them with free two-day shipping, yes, I would get them at Amazon.com. If I didn't have Prime, no, I wouldn't. I would still get them at Musician's Friend with their free shipping. It would take a few extra days, but I could wait.

I know a lot of folks who pay a rather hefty premium price for those "rusty screws".

That's what's known as "mojo" among fans of the relic craze.

Only when and if necessary, i.e. when they either get rusty or stripped, which really isn't hardly at all.

+1
It's just part of the natural relicing of your bass.

FWIW I have always replaced my pickguard screws with stainless steel ones (#4 X 1/2") that can always be found at a Lowe's, but I'm sure that Home Depot or a hardware store would have them. More-or-less the same size as original screws, and the bag of 10 or 20 is like $1.99.
Just a thought
