It's a shielding issue. I doubt it's tied to the model.

Mine is the four string version which was humming like crazy in my studio, but when I played this weekend through the house in an auditorium, my bass sounded GREAT and was QUIET. It must be something in my studio.

Received mine (2011!). Midnight wine transparent. OMG. It is amazing. I'm not having a buzzing issue, but the active is so hot I expect to run into it at some point depending on wiring, grounding, etc.

BTW--I ordered from American Musical Supply and it took a day to receive my bass.

Took my bass to an authorized fender service center. They opened up the bass and there was no shielding or paint on the control cavity. Is this common on all new AD Jazzes? He said typically they have shield paint.
