That's good to know funkee! Maybe I only have another month to wait! :D

I chased Fender as the dealer didn't have any idea when i was going to get it....you won't be disappointed when you get it!

How did you manage to chase them?? I've emailed but get no reply - other than the automatic one saying they'll reply in 48hours! :?

Here's the deal I was told. I ordered a Steve Bailey Jazz Bass VI in July. Fender was having issues with their American paint supplier. The issue with the paint supplier has been solved and now production is backed up. I just recently went to the shop to put another payment on it and they quoted me the end of January 2011 it will be in.

Stay Brown,
Rev J

I've had a transparent wine/rosewood AD Jazz four-string on order since July. I'm told my shop is expecting eight at the end of January 2011 and I'm number 6 on the waiting list. If Fender shorts the order (as they have for most of 2010 my shop tells me) or if it has to be returned because it's noisy (a distressingly common issue due to insufficient body cavity shielding, I'm also told), I'll take it as a sign from the bass gods and pick up a used Lakland. Keeping my fingers crossed though!

Is yours ash,and how would you compare yours to a Sadowsky ? I'm curious ! I managed to persuade my friend to go for the ash Deluxe instead of a Sadowsky after he played my bass,he far preferred it compared to the Sadowsky.Suppose it's personal preference really eh? :D

Hey man they are lovely basses.I know what you mean.I have a 2006 American Deluxe 5 and the new N3 p.ups and pre amp are much better in the new model,in saying that i fitted a John East pre amp to the 2006 bass last week.....dude if my new bass wasn't 2 weeks old i'd fit one to that too.Fantastic piece of engineering from John,as you would expect from someone who worked for SSL.

Loving those pictures of the wine transparent/rosewood AD! I've only seen the "official" Fender-released photos and one from an actual player who inexplicably got his hands on on confirms my suspicion: this is a drop-dead gorgeous bass.

Oh, and the one that was supposed to be delivered to my dealer on Feb 3? Pushed out until Feb 21! That's the shortest delay yet of the half-dozen or so I've had so far, so maybe this is progress?

ME: So I'll wait another THREE WEEKS, Fender, but if you break my heart one more time, it's over, honey! And this time I really, really mean it!

FENDER: Sure thing, babe, I hear ya! <looks over my shoulder at line of guys with fistfuls of dollars behind me and yawns>

Sounds like I should consider running off with a Sadowsky Metro if I get left at the altar by Fender. Very nice bass!
