I'm hoping for some help on identification of my Bass. The headstock is from an Ibanez TR series (23 frets)from a picture search the body of the Bass seems to be a Fender Standard J-bass. I don't know which type of J-bass it is?

It is 3 color sunburst with a white (3ply) pick guard (3 chrome top knobs on a chrome plate) The back is solid black with no electronic access panel (passive bass) neck plate has no markings but is chrome. (2) duncan pickups equally spaced neck & bridge...

any ideas?
Thanks...[/img]

The TR series had 22 frets, not 23. Same thing for the EX series.

Sorry about that I miscounted it has 22 frets. Musician friends who have seen it have said the body is definitely a Squier Standard

(I found a picture online of exact same body with a squier headstock)

Not sure why someone would put an Ibanez neck on it? Is it worth putting the right neck on it or should I leave it alone?

The TR Expressionist series was available in two versions, the former featuring a traditional "paddle"-shaped headstock and an ATK-style body and the latter sporting a sleek "RG" body shape and a "rocker"-style pointed headstock.

The TR series (2nd version) is sometimes referred as TRB and couldn't be confused with the Yamaha TRB basses, which is a totally different design.

A 22-fret neck couldn't fit properly on a standard J body, which is primarily designed to accept a 20-fret neck.

There are exceptions, though. Vineyard basses (such as this natural Jazz Bass copy) sport standard bodies and 22-fret necks.

The headstock label is exact to the TR series1 photo... but the neck is rosewood.

The body is similar to the vineyard series photo but it's a 3 color sunburst w/ white pickguard. the knobs bridge and pick-up placement are a match...

Thanks for the help!
