I am a mandolin player about to purchase a bass. so a small neck would be great for me. From what I gather the Geddy Lee model seems to have the smallest neck, any opinions on this would be helpfull. This model is in my price range seeming to be a good bang for your buck. Also, what do you guys think a fare price would be for a 2009 Geddy in really great shape?

According to some post these necks are so thin you would have to remove the pickgaurd and possibly even remove the neck in order to make a truss rod adjustment. that led me to beleive they must be smaller than other models. this would be great for a mandolin player who is used to playing such a small instrument. Do other models have this issue with truss rod adjustment ?

That's what I had heard about the GL. The nut size and width are the same as a regular Jazz, but the top to bottom (fretboard to back) depth is thinner.

I'm a mandolin player also and I honestly don't think there is that much of a difference between the Geddy Lee and any other Jazz neck to make much of a difference. I have played several Geddy Lee's and the difference to me seemed subtle at most. If you can, go out and try several Jazz styles and I think you will see what I mean. Good luck and enjoy!

I think geddy necks have 7.5 radius? compared to the standard 9.5?

it's doubtful.. correct me if I'm wrong but... Geddy's Jazz Bass was based on a 70's jazz bass.. so I think the neck radius way back was 7.25 something similar to a 75 RI neck..
