*I just want to vent about my sunday night casual jam.*

Ok, so it was raining here yesterday afternoon. No big deal, I love the rain, at least when I'm not working in it. Jam time was 7pm, so about 6 I go and pull my truck into the garage so that when I get ready to leave I'm not dragging stuff out in the rain. A little while later I load up and head over to the guitarist house. I get a phone call from him on my way there. "Hey, Brad just texted me and said it's raining at his house and he doesn't want to get wet." Alright, so is he running late? "I don't know, that's all it said." I try calling Brad, no answer. I get to Mark's, and set up and we start noodling around. Mark's all over the place, he'll start with something, I'll come in, and then he stops. "I don't like that one." We played it for 30 seconds, how do you know if you like it or not? Move on to the next one, and the next one, and the next one.
Then Josh, the other guitarist shows up. Well, we have to stop so that they can talk politics for 30 minutes. Get started again, and it's the same as before. 30 second jams. WTF? I'm getting aggrivated. I try to introduce some of the stuff that I've been working on and they're both not interested. Ok then, now what are we gonna do? I wanna jam, I wanna play, I wanna get funkay.
Brad shows up around 845, and he is plastered. "Oh, I didn't hear my phone ring." is his response to why he didn't call me back. Now the guitarists are talking covers. Brad starts singing on the mic. We roll into Hey Joe. Failure. Wish You Were Here. Failure. Tuesday's Gone. Failure. A few more and the same result. Failure. It's close to 1000 now, so I say that I'm tired and want to call it a night. They beg me to stay. I say I can't. So I leave. No more, I'm done with that. (On a much better note; I sounded super good tonight. Ampeg BA115, Tech21 VT Bass, MIA Jazz Bass. :D )
My band is on hiatus right now. A few months now. Too much on everyone's plate to focus on our music or the band. I understand, it can get quite hectic when trying to juggle a job, family, and music/band.
I am so frustrated working/playing/jamming with anyone/everyone though. I swear that I am gonna learn guitar too and have my one man band and make my own music. I already do, with bass and drum tracks. Sometimes add keys on it too. I just had to vent, and what better way than to complete strangers.

has anyone tried Laney RB amps? I can get them from a distant place but I can't try them.. I'm looking at RB3 65W RB5 120W with horn or RB6 165 with horn

I would go with the 80 but in reality it won't make much difference. The volume difference between a 50 and 100 watt head is only around 3 decibels. The higher wattage head will allow you to have less distortion at a higher volume than a lower wattage head.

This is a really broad subject. I used to practice in a garage. The two guitarists both had 8x12 stacks. I had a single 15 cab and never had a problem hearing myself, so a lot will depend on the room itself.

As garages tend to be very "live" (i.e. rotten acoustics), do yourself a favor and get some ear plugs - you won't go deaf and you'll actually get a better sense of the overall sound of the band.

One other option, and I'm not sure how you would pull this off, is to practice through earphones. I had friends in another band who did this. They were able to hear each other a lot better without having to unnecessarily crank up the volume. I always thought it was a good system.

i've been using 50w amps lately... I can barely hear myself, it does the job but i guess I'll need a little more higher..

I don't know if this has already been stated or not but I'll go ahead and throw it out there!

If I were you I would check out local pawn shops and such. You can get great deals on bass amps and then you'll have some extra dough to put towards the rumble you were talkin about. I got a Peavey TNT 1x15 combo head for 15 bucks from DI here in utah.

Just my .02 cents.

I'd say 35 watts isn't enough if there is a drummer involved. I'd lean more toward 75 to 100 watts. I'm currently using a 75 watt Line 6 Studio 110 for rehearsals and it is just enough. Small light and easy to move. Garages are not good places to leave amps on a regular basis.

It's all good. I really don't care anymore. I've been fooling around on my own. Been playing around with a wah pedal and some fuzz. I do better on my own, things get done alot faster. I can lay down drum and bass tracks and be done in no time. I'm running out of space on my computer for all these demos, usually around three minutes long.
As far as the band, the drummer and I are gonna play some golf on monday. I'm sure band-talk will come up and what will/should/could happen from here.
And I just got a Tech 21 XXL Bass pedal again to fool around with.
