I have always preferred rosewood. Not for any other reason except it just feels right to me. I'm going down to play that white MIM Jazz again this week.

I have a '78 Gibson Ripper with and Ebony fingerboard. Ebony is a great wood for fingerboards.

Yes, the ebony feels harder than rosewood but smoother. Probably somewhere in between rosewood and maple.

I'm not sure that's right gl. I thought that ebony was supposeto be the hardest of the three types of wood.

I was referring to the feel of the ebony being in between rosewood and maple. Ebony is the hardest of the three but to me the finish on maple makes feel harder. I'm probably not explaining this right. Sorry.
