I have a American Fender Jazz passive bass with S-1 Switching. Is it possible to install a preamp without any routing. Suggestions would be welcomed.

I'm presuming you are looking for tone expansion and not a power booster.

You MAY be able to fit an EMG BTC without routing and with clever placement of the battery vertically in between the pots. For your convenience:

If you're in the US, I know someone who has a slightly used one where you could save a few bucks over the cost of a new one (nudge, nudge, wink, wink).

The EMG JVX is another good option. Google Ed Friedland's review or go here: http://www.youtube.com/bassguitarmag#p/u/6/r3-uPgqcHuo
