I just recieved a 1978 Fender Champ that seems to have NO FUSE! I even checked inside thinking it may have popped in (there is just an empty hole in the chassis where the fuse should be), but my virgin eyes couldn't spot it.

Any idea what is up with this? Is this a fire hazard? Risk to electronics? The amp runs/plays well though it may be a hot...I haven't played it for extended time yet. Would it function without a fuse?

It may have come baxck over the border from Mexico, so I guess anything is possible with this one.

Please help! Should I keep this amp or return for refund offered by seller. Was decent price, amp sounds good, SO FAR!

The amp will run without a fuse but you are risking being electrocuted or blowing up the output transformer, or other components, when you use an amp with no fuse.

Take it to a reputable amp tech and thay can install a fuse holder and fuse for you. That amp should have a fuse or circuit breaker installed.

A fuse is the original configuration and on a vintage amp, you want it to be period correct for maximun performance and value.

Good luck with your amp.

Plus, you've posted your thread on the "Jazz Bass Guitars" discussion forum, which is not the adequate place for amp-related questions.

Go to the "Vintage Guitar Amplifiers (anything before 1985)" section and discuss your problem there.
