Hi folks, i've just sold my Jazz bass on eBay and had a sudden panic regards it's authenticity! It's sold for more than expected and have had a couple of questions that make me wonder!
On the headstock it has 'Fender serial number N901889 Jazz Bass Made In USA' and i've listed it as a Fender Jazz circa 1999 vintage white bass. It isnt string thru body, is passive and has a one piece (3ply) scratch plate rather than a separate chrome bell shape for the electrics. The neck plate is chrome with no F or serial number.
I've always thought this was genuine but don't want to take the money if it's fake or hybrid!

p.s. i've popped the neck off earlier and can just make out an inspection stamp that reads 10 may 1999 or similar and some other markings. A previous bass i owned was authenticated by this method..(74 sunburst Jazz!!)
:D

does anyone know what period of time they were made like this? Mine is the same and I've sometimes wondered about its authenticity...but it sounds so good it must be!?

From my s/n mine was made in 1990 or so if I recall (I cross-checked on the guide for fender s/n and that is what came up).
