I just received a 50th anniversary jazz bass and the bridge cover has about an 1/8th inch gap between the cover and where it touches the basses body on one side. It appears to be because the basses body has some curve to it. It doesn't effect the functionality or anything but just looks like it doesn't fit tight. Is this common on bridge covers? I don't know if I should try to bend it down a little or leave it. Any opinions?
Problem Solved: I took the cover off and bent it into shape. Too bad I had to do that with a new part!

Can you post a pic? Sounds to me like one side isn't screwed down all the way, but I can't be positive unless I could see exactly what you mean.

Same thing on mine. :?
I took the cover off and discovered that Fender actually went a bit into the finish because the body does have a slight curve to it. No prob. Bent it and put it back on.

Mine was also missing the THUMB REST!! I called Fender and they FedEx'd one out to me, which means I have to drill it myself. Lucky I am handy.

Aint it the prettiest thing ever? My wife got it for my 60th birthday. I got the last one in the country I think. She called almost 40 vendors and found only one. Fender would not special order. Plays like a dream. Already used it in the studio. Sounds amazing with a pre-amp.

Arti,
Thanks for the post reply. I also had the bridge cover go into the finish. Perhaps our basses were next to each other on the assy line. It is a beautiful bass. I have no regrets about paying 2K for it.
