They have been discontinued. Fender might be re-vamping that line so we'll have to see what comes out next year.

IMO the bass was fine as it already was, however I find the discontinued part a little disturbing because as it is they've discontinued some real good basses
The Precision Special V, The Roscoe Beck V, and the FMT & QMT basses what's next The Reggie Hamilton ? The Amber Deluxe ? or The Ash Body Deluxe :?

they got rid of the American Deluxe 5 sting P bass about a year or two ago. They do now have new for 2008 a 5string American standard P bass which they have never had ever before. Unfortunately, Fender has to run a business and make money, if a bass doesn't sell well no sense continuing w/it.

I don't know why they were discontinued but this is smoothest, hottest, funkiest bass I have ever played.
I just purchased a jazz qmt V from bass central out of Florida. They only had two left. Mine has a 60 Anniversary logo on the back of the head.
Does this mean it was made in 2006?

Check the serial number, if it starts with DZ6....then it is a 2006

I love mine too! I have a early version, 2002 model. Here is mine next to my Victor Bailey Jazz Fretless:

I mainly use the Victor Bailey fretless, just because of the type of music I am doing with my band.

If I remember right, the 5-string models were either maple or pao ferro and the 4-string models (like mine) were offered in maple or rosewood

Looking at mine would you say pao ferro? its to dark to be maple. Are both
of your basses 18v?

I justed looked it up, yours is Pao Ferro which is why it is so light.

And both of my basses are 18V. My FMT is a older model (2002), so it doesn't have the SCN pickups like my Victor bass.
