Has anyone else noticed how many vintage Jazz basses come up on Ebay with the date 7th xxxx 196x? Did Fender only make Jazz basses on the 7th of the month in the 60s? Especialy on 1966 models there have been loads of 7th May 1966 date stamps listed. BTW if anyone has a 6th May 1966 Jazz they want to sell let me know....

9-Musicmaster II, Mustang, Duo-Sonic II 1964-1966 21 fret 22 3/4" scale Model also found on '69 Swinger "Arrow/Musiclander"
10*- Coronado 1 and 2 and some 1966 Jazzmaster and Stratocaster necks
11-Bass 5
12-Electric 12 and Maverick/Custom model
13-Stratocaster 1966-1968, many 1966 Jazzmaster's too
14-Coronado 12
15-Jaguar 1966-1972
16-Musicmaster II, Mustang, Duo sonic II, and Bronco
17-Mustang Bass and MusicMaster Bass

Bringing up another old topic . The codes are interesting. They may help somebody figure out what they have?

Thanks for this data, Danny.

My first "good" guitar back in 1968 was a used '66 Strat and I remember pulling it apart to see what made it tick and finding the neck's heel stamped "13MAR66B". I no longer own the instrument but for decades I always assumed that the inscription meant the neck was made on the 13th of March in 1966. Then someone here remarked that I must be mistaken about the first two digits because the numeral "2" is the correct designation for a Strat neck (which it is but only for rosewood necks built prior to 1965). I was certain that I recollected it reading "13" and now I know that my memory isn't failing to the extent that my wife often alleges.
