I've actually found your old posts about those on the Gibson site, when I was browsing around looking for info on those amps. I think they were around 2011, and you wound up going with a Hartke combo with the LH500 head. Your past lives on in the world wide web. :P

The only thing that kinda turned me off on that LH500 head, it was bit to mid to high end if I recall that one.

I think it had that stacked tone control, to where the EQ isn't flat, unless you had the bass and treble cranked, instead of the center, or some funky set up like that. Come to think of it, I think my Orange might have that type of EQ. Hell, too much mid and high would have been ideal with my violin bass. :P

Yeah,....... the mid controlled the the volume, and the workings of the bass, and treble. The mid was more prone to set to the treble setup.

They still make that amp, although the combos aren't available in the US anymore, or they don't say they're available in every country, according to their site, and I couldn't seem to find them around the usual US internet shops. I'm guessing they still make those combos, since they still have them listed on the site.

I'd say those amps are just about one of the few that are still made new that aren't Class D, these days. Although, there's a couple of Orange amps that aren't (they discontinued my Class D amp, and so far haven't come out with any new models,) and I do believe there are a couple Gallien Krueger models still available, like the RB models.

Hartke still also has the HA3500, and HA2500 heads, but everything else related to that is gone. I've played through an HA3500 head before, when I got my Peavey bass, and one of those HA7000 heads back in the 90's. I was playing through some other bassist's rig at an outdoor gig in Florida. They both sounded pretty good, from what I remember.

On the Hartke site they're showing the HyDrive combos still. It does note that both the 210, and 410 combos are not available in every country. But they both have the LH500 head in them.

Yeah, I saw those, as well. I think if I were to get one of those series, it would be LH1000, even though I'd have to run it in bridge mode, since I have only one 8 ohm cab, and that's a two channel amp. At least it gives you the option of running multiple cabs, going down to 2 ohms. That's basically like a typical power amp.

Yep. that's right on the LH1000. It even shows the connections on the back of the head.

Yeah, they have a Speakon jack for the bridge input. No big deal there, since I already had to get those cables because of the Orange. Other than the extra cost, in comparison, I like the Speakon system quite a bit. They seem very secure, not that I try to have the cables messed with in any way to begin with.

I like the Speakon cables as well. I used them whenever. I also have the 1/4" to Speakon adapter cables. I used that adapter for the Super Bassman head. It only used 1/4" jacks. For $1,800. bucks, you figure they would provide you with the choice of 1/4", or Speakon. My low priced Hartke head, and cab both give you the option for either or.

I remember you were telling me about that when you had that amp. Even the Ampeg SVT has an additional Speakon jack. Funny thing is you could buy four of your Hartke heads for the price of that Super Bassman.

And for my playing in the house only any more, the Hartke gives me a good feeling of using the right gear for my needs. The quality of the Hartke is impressive.

I've had limited experience with them, but other than some little practice amp they made that kind of crapped out on me, the rest didn't seem too bad, at least sound wise. Even the practice amp sounded really good, but something happened to it where it started farting out and distorting, or barely any sound at all. Maybe it was the input jack, who knows? Doesn't matter now, I suppose. I got rid of it years ago.

It's easy to to look back on what amps were good, and not so good. Like I may have said in the other posting, I think one of the Combo amps that I wished didn't have an issue, the Marshall MB210 Combo. I would've hung on to that combo. The one half stack I should've kept, was the Mesa M6 Carbine / PowerHouse 212. Oh well, I'm not sorry about having the Hartke. Image

Yeah, I know what you mean. In hindsight, I should have held on to my Peavey amps, but I moved up here with nothing, because of screwed up circumstances when I was in Florida, so I probably would have lost them, anyway. Then again, if I had the foresight to prevent those circumstances from even taken place when I was younger, and still had said Peavey amps, then it all would have been a moot point. They always say hindsight is 20/20.

I had some basses go that I maybe should've hung on to, but the basses were always easier to replace than the amps were.
