You were maybe referring to Hurricane Wilma hitting Florida, and loosing power. That was 2010.

The top half of my amp is a Fender Bassman 800, the bottom half is an Ampeg SVT-410HLF. Image

Well, it's half and half not Fender. Cool rig. 8)

You know, you reminded me that I've never posted an updated photo of my Orange rig on here, just the one I had with the old cabs, and I've noticed that pic no longer is visible on the site (which is why I had to start using Imgur.) Actually, I had forgotten about this thread, since it's been several months since we've posted here.

Well, here it is again, albeit half instead of not Fender:

Image

It's a pic I took right after I got the Fender cab, which I did post elsewhere on the site several months ago. The same Orange amp I had before, just an update for continuity purposes. Maybe I might take another pic of it with the Ibanez, or whatever, but I haven't even used that rig since March 3rd, the day of my last gig. It's been stowed in a side room ever since then. I should be using it again, come towards the end of the month. We have a gig coming up in August, and need to rehearse for that.

The last time I posted on here was Feb. 11th, posting the Ampeg head, and cab.

That's good pic you have with the Orange, Fender, and Douglas. If you get a chance to do a pic with the Ibanez, that would be cool. Your Fender cab looks good with the Orange.
I'm going to attempt a shot of the GL with the 800 / SVT. The GL is a total pain in the drain to get a decent pic of. The black finish of the body shows a lot of reflections like a mirror, and the flash from the camera can be a pain too.

Yeah, that's one thing about black instruments, they can be difficult to get decent photos of, sometimes. They'll show off smudges a lot more, too. I've also heard that the black finish was also the most difficult one to use on an instrument to paint.

I should do another pic, maybe even one with both basses together. I'm not sure.

I'm looking forward to seeing pics of your gear. I really like seeing other players gear. I guess I handled to much over the years.
When I was younger in high school, a couple of my closer friends, and myself would go into music shops to look around. One was a drummer so you know what he was primarily looking at. The other was a bass player also, but he liked looking at the basses. Myself, I was lost in the mountains of amps. Even today, when I go into a shop I head over to the amp section first.

I know what you mean. Basses are obviously important, but with a good amp, that's where it's all heard. I'd rather have a crappy bass, than a crappy amp.

Yep. That's been my creedo for a long time. It's easier to change out a bass than bass amp. Most of the time cheaper to replace a bass. Image

Well, that could also depend on the bass. Take Alembic basses, for example. $$$ Generally, people hold on to those, though. I've never seen too many on the used market, but then again, I haven't been constantly looking.

Some basses don't have the attraction, at any price.

I know, and I've seen some that are works of art.

Very true. Some of the laminated wood bodies are as you state, works of art.
