That looks similar to it. The cover of the magnet was gray, and the wattage was higher.

About 50 or 100 watts?

I honestly don't remember the wattage of them, but they were up there. Those were some nice 12" speakers. My home built cab was lousy though. Way too big, and heavy. But that was pretty much the way cabs were in 1969.

What did you make that cab out of? I remember a friend of mine that got the wood for a bass cab he built from solid oak doors that were reclaimed from a school. He made a 2 x 15" cab, but he loaded it with a couple of Radio Shack speakers. Radio Shack knew him on a first name basis, anyway. He went into there all of the time. This was back in the 80's, before they started messing with cellphones and tanking. By the way, that cab had a lot of low end to it, besides the fact the speakers weren't Celestions or things like that.

It was 5/8's, or 3/4" plywood. Way to heavy duty. A lesson well learned from that one.

How did it sound, though?

Not too bad for it's size. I had the Traynor head pushing it. A bit boomy though. It was too big, and needed some porting. The Jensen 12's were a fine sound. I'll take those 12's anytime.

Wasn't that the case with a lot of cabs with not porting back then, anyway?

Pretty much, but this cab was huge. Kustom had some of the best ported cabs back then.

Those Kustom amps were pretty cool. I wouldn't mind having a few of those in the arsenal.

Agreed! The Kustoms were one of the few amps from the late 60's, and on I'd love to have Altec Lansing, or JBL 15" speakers in them. They were fantastic amps.

The Mustang PJ sounds great through the Markbass. A nice sounding low end, and clean too.

I had a feeling you'd eventually get that bass again.

I know, I'm glad I did too. It's great little quick pick up Fender. I have to admit, I think I'm a bit smoother playing it.

Those short scale basses can be pretty quick, once you get use to the smaller neck on them.
