Hi guys, I'm still with the Markbass and I've turned off the GAS. The 500 watts, 2 112 cabs are cranking just fine. 12's Are my last choice here. That's ok, 12's are where I started my trek back in 1968 anyway.

When and where did you get this amp?

I played through one a couple of days ago with an Am. Std. Precision they had on the wall. It sounded so good, I had to bring my Precision with the Nylons, down to hear it through it. It played so smooth with the HyDrive Neo 15. So, I traded in the GK/Ampeg for the Hartke KB15. I definitely like it better than any other 15" Combo. It was a good deal all around.

Are you still using this rig?

G.A.S. might strike and I might need to buy something. LOL

I'm using the Markbass Mini CMD 121P / NY121. I like everything about this setup. The last amp I'll be using anyway. My three basses I still have aren't going anywhere either.

Sometimes, we do wind up going full circle. I suppose I would, if I wound up using Peavey again, which I almost did, if my Orange had sold. It didn't, so I'm keeping it. I only tried to do that to get some extra money at the time, but it didn't pan out. Just think, next year you'll have been playing for 50 years, then. Me, it will be 30 years, come August.

You're right about going full circle. Not only am I back with Markbass, but I'm using my all time favorite 12" speakers again. For me the 12's are the right ones.

Hey, if ain't broke, and all of that. If I had it all to do over again, I would have probably picked up a 12" cab of some sort instead of the 2 x 10" one I did get, but you know how that goes. :P

It's not like the 2 x 10" is a bad cab, but I think the 12" (at least the one I looked at) would have been more practical as a stand alone cab, which I could add the 18" cab with when need be.

Interesting possible use of a 12". I do like the 12 over a 10 again myself.

I think the Ox used a combination of 12"s and 18"s, didn't he? At least in the earlier days, perhaps.

There's a site that has all of his gear listed. I'll check that out again.

I like the tightness and clarity and note definition you get with 10s.
Of course, you need a number of them to move a lots of air.
I guess that's why I'm very happy with a combination of 10s and a 15.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I use to have 15" and 2 x 10" cabs many moons ago. It sounded pretty good, but I had to sell it to get money, unfortunately. Other than the 2 x 10" configuration in my Fender Rumble 350, I've never liked a 2 x 10" cab on it's own. It could be the cabs I've had weren't really meant for that purpose. I've played through those Hartke aluminum 4 x 10" cabs, and I've had good results with those, though.

Oh yah ....
I agree.
For a very short period of my life I played bass in a country/rock outfit.
That was way back in the day.
Like in the 80s.

I had a Hartke 410 cab and it was heavy.
I forget what it weighed but it was a pig of a thing.
My amp was a pig too.
Boogie 400+
Great sounding rig but it was way too much for my needs.
The previous bassist in that outfit sold it to me.
Luckily, I was also able to sell it to the next guy after me.

The magnificent tone and brutal power of that rig is something I will never forget.
It is the sound I hear in my head by which all others are judged.

Around 2003, I played a gig in NYC and they two of the original Guild/Hartke cabs as part of the club's backline, along with a Gallien Kruger 800 RB head. I used that, since I didn't have an amp at the time and I thought it sounded really good. Very punchy tone.
