Playing at home some used 35w Behringer. For gigs, see sig, depends how big or small, the cabs are pretty modular to pick out, 210, 115, 410, a combination of what I feel for the venue: 410, 210/410, 210/115, 410/115 (overkill for any club(s))

I've used those Hartke 410XL cabs before as part of a borrowed back line and in a music store. They have a pretty good punchy sound to them. I've never owned any, though.

The perfect sound in a small place is the 210&115. The 410&115 is too loud for most clubs. 210&410 is nice too. Old skool (or stubbornness) in me thinks I need the 15...

I'm tempted on buying an old 215 XL on Reverb.

I haven't seen one of those in years. Didn't they also make an 8 x 10" cab, too? I imagine that must have been a beast. I know what you mean by old school, I have an 18" Celestion as part of my rig. That's something you don't see around too much anymore, unless it's PA subs, it seems.

I'm not sure if they did in XL, VX line they did and the HyDrive they do. The way Larry back up his product, I don't know if I'd play or rather buy another brand. I do like Ampeg, Orange, and Trace Elliott - talking about old skool.

Yeah now a days the 18s are usually part of the PA. I think you can still get a Carvin cab in 18s.

Yeah, that's what I got was a Carvin, but I think even they dropped them after I got mine. It was a scratch and deal on eBay and originally 4 ohms. I wound up swapping out the speaker for an 8 ohm Celestion, so I can run an extra 2 x 10" cab, that is also a Carvin that I got further down the road. I'm running an Orange Terror Bass 1000 head with that set up. That thing is something else. It's the size of a lunchbox and weighs 11 pounds and it's 1000 watts, which is ridiculous amount of power. I've never even remotely cranked that thing. The only reason I got it was because I got a too good of a deal to pass up on it. I really didn't need it, but I couldn't pass it up. The great thing about that is I can carry it over my shoulder in it's carry bag with the cables in the side pouch. The only thing is you have to use a Speakon cable with it, but I have a Speakon to 1/4" speaker cable, in case there's a situation if I go somewhere and use their back line cabs instead of hauling my own and they don't have the Speakon jacks in the back.

I really like the setup I have.
It's a 240 watt 210 combo for normal use but for bigger rooms I also have a 210/115 extension cabinet which really moves air when I need to.
I had to fabricate a spacer to go between the cab and the combo to keep the castor equipped combo from rolling off.
The spacer works quite well, even if it doesn't look very "factory".

The casters are not removable?

The combo is heavy enough that I didn't want to remove them.
They just make moving it around so much easier.
I normally use it alone, without the ext. cab.
They're just fastened with screws like most castors so yah, they're removable.
I can lift the combo onto the cabinet by myself but it's not light.
About 80 pounds or so.
I usually try to get help if someone is available.
There are recessed, road case style handles on both sides.

This is the spacer I made:

Image

It's shown upside down.
The felt protects the tolex of the ext. cab.
The offset on the castor notches reflect a little bit of overhang in the back.
The combo cab is a couple inches deeper than the ext. cab.
The overhang out back doesn't concern me much.
All the weight is on the front.
The extra depth of the cabinet helps it sound deeper but beyond that there isn't any reason for it to be that deep.
None of the internals reach very far back.
It's all for internal volume, tone-tuning.

I also fabricated a side-hanger to hang my basses to reduce my footprint on stage.
Obviously, I can only use it with the ext. cab.
At one time I was considering removing the metal grille on the ext. cab to have it galvanized so it looks better with the combo but the truth is, I really don't care enough about how it looks to go to that trouble.
It sounds great and that's all I care about.

By "removable" I meant the plug-in type, which were commonly installed on many of Fender's amps from the silverface era.

But your field-expedient solution works just as well.

When and where did you get this amp?

I played through one a couple of days ago with an Am. Std. Precision they had on the wall. It sounded so good, I had to bring my Precision with the Nylons, down to hear it through it. It played so smooth with the HyDrive Neo 15. So, I traded in the GK/Ampeg for the Hartke KB15. I definitely like it better than any other 15" Combo. It was a good deal all around.

Are you still using this rig?

G.A.S. might strike and I might need to buy something. LOL

He's using a Markbass amp the last I heard, but that could always be subject to change, depending on the call of GAS. :P There's certainly a whole bunch of goodies on the market for bass amps these days.
