Yep. The previous gear was too heavy to move around, and just not practical for convince in using in other areas of the house. I don't use the amp outside of the room it's parked in very often, but when I did, it was a pain.

I ran the Am. Std. Jazz through the Markbass Mini CDM 121P / NY 121. I like the tone of these two 12's in the Markbass, better than what I was getting through the Fender / Ampeg setup.

That's good that you have a set up you're happy with. 8)

It looks like I'll be using my Orange stack pretty soon. It looks like we have a drummer that wants to play with us, besides a guitarist. I'm hoping 2017 is going to be our year to kick it in the arse.

Very good! I hope things start to be a giant kick for ya'. A New Year, a New Beginning.

Played the USA Geddy Lee, it is it!

I know this is sort of out of left field, but did you ever get to check out any Traynor amps? I just happen to remember us talking about those a while back. I'm just not sure to where you even find the damned things to even check out. I think there's like one or two online dealers these days. I've heard they were actually really good and it looks they're pretty well built, from watching them being made on "How It's Made" on TV years ago.

I had a Traynor head back in 1969/1970. A few years ago I acquired a Traynor Combo with a 15" in it. I don't recall the model, but it was a superior amp. Typical Traynor.

That was it, the Dynabass. A real kick $@! Combo with a 15". Traynor never seemed to have the distribution they needed. Some where along the way in the late 60's, they had a chance to really get a good lock in the market place. But amps like the Kustom took it's place in the market.

I wonder if they are more common in Canada, where they are made? I remember when I started playing and up to a few years ago, they went by the Yorkville name, which now is just their PA equipment, from what I've seen. There was a local music store in St. Petersburg, Florida that carried the brand. I don't remember if I ever played through any. I was also a total newb at bass at the time, so I was rather shy about playing through amps in public and didn't really mess with a lot of stuff until I got to where I could know what I was doing a bit. Kind of alien concept when you think about it, especially after almost 30 years.

I had a small music store that was a Traynor dealer, and a Marshall dealer as well. G&L were their main line for basses, and guitars. Dean, and Schecter were stocked also. They closed down three or four years ago.

Unfortunately, that seemed to take place quite frequently in the past decade or so. You know, when I first moved to Newport, RI, there was at least 4 music stores (well, this is the home of the Folk and Jazz Festivals, plus the place where Bob Dylan went electric,) but then they all went. The last one pulled shop a couple of years ago. At least there's some clubs and venues to play at around. The night life has built up back again after the last few years. When the economy was tanking around 2007 or there about, it wasn't looking good. I think Guitar Center and the internet killed off a lot of that, too. I think if you're going to have a business, you'd be dumb not to have a website to where you can sell from, I think.

When I got my first bass a friend told me to get an Acoustic amp. I was looking for a small 20-30 watt amp as not to honk off the wife. It sounded OK at guitar center when I tried it against an ampeg and the Rumble all in the same price range. I took it home and it just sounded like it was being smothered by a pillow. I'd go to my friend's house and plug into his Peavy amp and it just sounded so damn good compared to that Acoustic. So I get a bonus check from a customer for a few hundred and decide I need a 100/watt amp. I fell in love with the GK and would have walked out the door with one, but they were out of the 100, save the floor model and weren't going to deal on it. So I have an envelope set aside with money saving for the GK 112 200 watt combo. I love the fender rumble and its sound and effects, but the GK has what I want for some additional sound.
Moral of the story, friends don't let friends buy Acoustic amps!

One of my old time Fort Lauderdale stores in the past years, MAE, moved from their original location on Davie Blvd., and enlarged the building, and the business, just west on the same road. Yep, they do internet also.
