I'd think they'd have a bit more low end, too. Since they are bigger in diameter. Who knows, I might be able to get that cab. I'd even sell the 2 x 10" to get it, if I could. Usually those type of cabs will sell, but that's hard to say around here. I'm not going to take a bath on it, trying to get rid of it, either. You know, people try to low ball you. I suppose I can't blame them, but still...

I know exactly what you're saying. I'm getting to be an old whatever, but 12's are a very good size speaker, that most people don't understand, or use. I've always like them. The Am. Std. is going to go through the amp in a few minutes. Image

Yeah, they work pretty good, either by themselves or paired with 15"s or even 18"s. 8)

Yes Paul, they really do.

I'm liking the sound of the SB/SVT more as I play it. I'm think that the SVT-212AV cab speakers are starting to break in. The old Fender Bassman cabs didn't have a staggered speaker setup, so a full size head wouldn't fit if the cab was stood vertical. The sound wasn't as bold with the cab laying horizontal on the floor. And the horn is turned OFF!

+1

Vertically-oriented cabs always seem to project more efficiently, whether for bass or guitar. That's why Fender began to abandon the horizontal enclosures in 1967.

I should try that with my 2 x 10" cab. Although, it is stacked on top of my 18" cab, so it's almost head level to begin with. I'm curious to see the difference in sound.

With it elevated I'd think it would be fine. Just by itself, flat on the floor, that's where you'd want to have it vertical, standing upright.

I'm glad that the 2X12 cab is a staggered speaker, so it's wider, and accommodates a full size tube head.

I think that's a good configuration. I've seen 4 x 12" cabs with the staggered set up. I think both Traynor and Gallien Kruger had them.

I think Mesa uses it too.

Mesa just staggers two 12's on top of a 2X12 cab. Really better than the older squared 4X12 Marshall designed cab.

I can see how that would work out.
