Hi James. I was using the TC E RH450 for a bit. I went to back to using it, because the Markbass combo head back panel for me, was a PITA to get to, and do settings with. Also the TC E setup allows a 4 ohm cab (BC410 ) to matchup with an 8 ohm cab (BC212) powered by the RH450 @ 4 ohms.
The TC E head goes by the wattage of the cabs combined, instead of the impedance totals. The BC410 is a 500 watt cab. The BC212 is a 250 watt cab. The sum of the two cabs combined equals 750 watts. The RH450 head is able to power 800 watts. So that's 50 watts below the Maximum power needed to run the two BC cabs. This also allows three BC 250 watt cabs to be powered by an RH450 head. Combinations of BC210, and or BC212 cabs. 250 Watts times three, equals 750 watts total. It works.

I used Harke amps for years, however a few years ago, fender started making the TB600 and TB12OO which I have used since. Fender no longer makes the TB amps any longer.

I've done a fair amount of research on the TC Electronic line of Bass amps in the last year,... I like them a lot,... there's a lot of forward thinking put into their product..
I've watched their promo video's,..... they're very informative & impressive. :)

I wondered how they managed doing the number of cabs on a 4 ohm head. I followed their support pages and got the answers. Pretty cool. I like the 4 ohm heads, and cabs. A half stack works ok for me. The Mesa cabs are good, because they are made in both 4, and 8 ohms, so you have your choice. One reason why I didn't use Fender cabs. 8 Ohms, I didn't want a full stack to get full wattage from the head.

SWR was the same they offered their cabinets in 4 & 8 ohms,.... I use 4 ohm SWR cabinets with my SWR rig,....... I'll use a SWR Golight 4x10 with either my SWR 750X or my SWR Headlite & a Goliath Jr. 2x10 through my SWR Amplite thats then connected to either my 750X or Headlite,...... tons of power !! ....MWAAHAHA!! I also have a 4 ohm SWR Working Pro 4x10 cabinet... did you know that John Paul Jones (who originally was using Acoustic Amps in the 70's) later switched to SWR amps & is now using TC Electronic Amps.....

Yeah, I saw that about JPJ is using the TC Electronic. The TC E do ok. It's a shame that SWR may go down that long and winding road, Sunn did.

Yeah it is,... but you know how it goes,...let the product sit dormant for a while until there's Nostalgia & interest & then if there's enough people requesting SWR it may make a return,.......that being said SWR has always been a niche line of Bass Amps,..... I have a feeling my SWR gear will last the test of time with the exception of maybe the speakers.
did you know that Nathan East is also using TC Electronic.

No,…… but there a few using TC Electronic, and Markbass now. Seeing JPJ using the TC E was a bit impressive though. Like Jack Bruce running Hartke.

I have an old silver face bassman I use with my fretless jazz bass, but with my fretted basses, I use an Ampeg 112. The old Bassman allows the "woodiness" of the fretless bass to come through a bit better. :)

Wait a minute,..... am I missing something ?? I haven't been around much in the last 2 months due to work but Mr. Nylon are you using a full TC Electronic rig now?
What happened to the MarkBass Head with Ampeg cabinet,...?? :?

I would think that the TC Electronic stuff would sound similar to SWR (not a bad thing..) :) Nathan East uses TC Electronic ......it sounds good.

   We've come full circle with regard to this thread going back to a year or so where we were talking about the awesome forward thinking job TC Electronics was doing. They make good gear,.... I like the vertical stacking cabinets... & the Rebel Heads (RH450 & RH750 ) are nice versatile amp heads....
