AMPEG SVT3 Pro and Heritage 8X10

They have been very heavily used over the past 5 years and have never missed a beat. Unlike me!

I'm supprised at the troubles some are having with the brand as it is not my experience with my gear, and others I know who have run AMPEG for years

I was suprised too when I started reading about these issues that people were having with newer Ampeg gear....... from what I've read these issues started happening after current owners "Loud Technologies" aquired Ampeg & one thing we have to keep in mind is people who have product issues tend to use the internet as a way to vent so I'd say there's a small portion of Ampeg users having issues in relation to the amount of Ampegs being bought & not having issues & remember we're just talking about the SVT Pro 7 & the new Porta Flex series of heads were people are having issues. :)

Loud Technologies has had Ampeg for a while. It's more of a recent issue. I had a 7 PRO without any problems also. But that was about a year ago.

I've been salivating looking at the Boogie M9 Carbine with a 1x15+4x10+horn cabinet. For a brief period way back in the very late 80s to early 90s I had a Boogie Bass 400+ and a Hartke 4x10 cabinet. Prodigious is the best word to describe that rig. I guess maybe I should find a Boogie forum and start lurking because I don't know what people are saying about Boogie's reliability of late. I know some of their guitar amps were having issues about 10 years back or so.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I don't hear much about Mesa Boogie in my area but what I've heard about the Carbine M9 & The Walkabout have both been positive.

I used a Mesa M6 Carbine head, with a PowerHouse 212 cab. They did fine. I don't regret parting with it though. The TC E RH450, and the Ampeg Heritage SVT-410HLF do fine with either of my three Fenders.

The TC Electronic RH450 & RH750 heads really intrigue me ..... such an intelligent & thoughtful design,.......their cabinets are smartly designed too..... damn those Dane's are always one step ahead pushing the envelope with cutting edge design....I love it !!
I find that the RH 450 mirror's my Headlite in many ways but has the edge with the 3 pre-sets ... (the 3 pre-sets are a good asset to have on a head when switching from Fretless to fretted ...etc)

If I remember correctly, the TC E RH450 / RH750 design, has the Tube Tone setting to the front of the design, giving it a priority for the tube sound to be more of a real tube amp sound, without having a tube to some day have to replace. Like I said, it sounds great with my Fenders.
Tubes always seem to go at the worst damn time too.

Yes I forgot that the RH450/750 heads are 100% solid state,....My Headlite has 1x 12AX7
dual triode vacum tube,..... my Fender basses also sound really good IMO with my SWR Heads ...love em!!

Thanks - it's the by product of years of steady gigging... The albums have been with me many, many years - they still sound great, also...

I've heard good things about the Mark Bass LM Tube 800 head. :)
