Ampeg BA115. Always wanted an Ampeg, this one was only about $380, looked like just what I needed.
It's 100 watts, 15" speaker, 5-position "style switch" (cuts and boosts various freqs, basically a quick way of adjusting the tone for different styles, as the name suggests), The usual tone control setup,CD input, headphone jack,XLR line out, built in tilt-back feature (don't lean on it, LOL), solid state electronics. Haven't had it up loud yet, but so far, I'm really digging the sound of my '09 Am std Jazz thru it. Very versatile sounding with the style switch. Good for home practice, and it seems like it would be a good gigging amp.

Hi Bathead. I think the USA Made BA115 I had was a pretty good amp for rehearsals. The horn would hiss though when I cranked up the treble. I've heard of people disconnecting the horns on these. I never did but just didn't turn the treble up beyond where it started to hiss. In a small combo in a small room it is a good stand alone gig amp and it has an XLR out so you could punch it into the PA if you have beefy system with subs. Tone was good for sure. It was just a little heavy to take to rehearsals so I downsized. Some guy in a band called Los Telecaster in Venezuela bought it. They work steady in the Caracas metro. Not bad at all. You can see videos on their website: http://www.lostelecaster.com/

Hey everybody, I'm looking for my first real bass amp. Right now I'm playing through a Behringer BXL450 45w Combo, and although I've never needed more, my band is starting to get gigs where a practice amp will barely cut it.

I've been looking for a low priced half-stack, and I've noticed Acoustic has a few stack packages. I like that old-school tone, but my current band requires a very deep, modern sound. Could the 200w 1x15" Acoustic stack get a modern sound??? If not, what would you recommend that a high-school student could afford ($300-$500)?

Thanks in advance for the help. :D

I got so sick and tired of driving 60 miles one way to bring back Markbass after Markbass that I gave up on them. They let all the magic smoke out on a couple of occasions; on others they just quit - no warning.

One made so much noise that I just stared at it for 15 minutes and cursed it silently.

Since I am not professionally gigging any more and just do backyard BBQs and lawn parties, I went to the new Acoustic gear from GC. No failures in over a year.

I run 600 Watts and several different cab combos: 115, 410, 810, etc, but my fav is a B-450 combo (600 Watts w/ 210 +horn) and adding a 115 cab.

They would not likely be good enough for a touring/gigging bassist, but they float my boat perfectly. They are very heavy - but I'm old school so that fits my requirements anyway.

Oh that sucks. I got my LMII over a year ago used and it's worked flawlessly. Got rain on it, spilled a beer ( l know...stoopid) and generally dragged it all over the place with no mishaps. That being said I wouldn't mind taking an Acoustic for a spin.

Playing live: Peavey Mark VI or VIII bass head with 410 TVX or 210 TX cabinets.

For home practice: 80s Peavey basic 40, or use headset with a Boss Dr. Rhythm Section.

I use a Eden WT800 w either a 2X10 cab or 4x10 cab. Thats expensive, but Eden makes these Fenders of mine SING!!!! Eden is launching some affordable combos. Shortly, I will have a Fender Rumble 75 for practice.

I use a GK 1001RB head with a GK 4X10 cab. The rig sounds great and can really crank in a small to moderate size club if needed. My only regret with this setup (and reason to soon upgrade) is the 10" speakers have some limitations. I may trade in for a different cab that will allow more flexibility in the use of a few pedals that I have on my board.

Hey try a 2x12" if you can. Really awesome for rock due to the different "flavor" of midrange. Nice lows, though not as deep as a 4x10". The upshot is I shed 40 lbs off my rig when I leave the Goliath at home. Avatar builds a nice one I've heard.

I highly recommend the GK Neo 2x12 in this case. Comes with a speakon cable so you can run your 1001 in bi-amp mode as it was meant to be run. I actually switched from an old GK 4x10 to the new GK Neo 2x12 and prefer it (I do love me some mids, so bear that in mind) to the 4x10.

Hey all -
Not sure if Fender will ban me for asking this question, but:
With your Fender Jazz bass, what amp do you use?
If not Fender, which one and why?

Thanks!

Don't have a Jazz Bass, but I use an Ibanez Sound Wave 65 W amp...

It's got more tone shaping circuits than I've seen on ANY other analog amp... including "Bright" and "Shape" buttons, Gain, Level, three band EQ, separate "Hue" knob, and switchable horn tweeter...

You can get any part of the bass range brought way up, softened down, bright or mellow tones... and clean to disgustingly distorted as well...

I'm playing an Ibanez JB200 with on board active EQ and "Phatt II" base expander circuit...

I suspect they were intended for each other<VBG>

Just getting back into playing bass after a 30 year break... <G>

Couldn't afford the Fender I wanted so I got both of these for about half the price of just the Precision Bass I really wanted...

If the JB200 wasn't such a nice instrument I'd be dissatisfied... but it's a gem!

BTW, you wouldn't believe how my HSS Strat FSR sounds through this amp!!!

Just got my Kustom KB 100 yesterday, it's 100 watts with a 15" speaker, direct out , effects loop and so on. At first i wasn't sure if I was going to keep it. Having had the chance to play with it and my Tech21 Bassdriver, I think it's a keeper. It doesn't have the punch of some amps but it does have a warm unique sound, a lot like The Moody Blue's John Lodge. Sounds great on Motown material, mainly the James Jamerson stuff and, as a secondary amp it will hold the low end nicely.

Roland Cube-30 Bass Combo (CB-30)

It has onboard compression, 3-band EQ, and Roland digital effects including reverb, delay, chorus, flanger, and T-Wah.
