They dropped them from MIA production some time ago. For the past 8+ years or so they've been MIJ/CIJ guitars but it looks like they've been dropped from Fender Japan as well. Mine is one of the early MIA ones.

Yeah The Victor Bailey 4 string bass was introduced in 2001,
with the 5 string bass, Fretless bass & the Victor Bailey Acoustic bass being introduced in 2006 ...... they were discontinued in 2010,.... I believe off shore production was in Korea & not Japan but don't quote me on that,.......I remember considering a Victor Bailey 5 string in 2009 & Made in Korea sticks in my mind....... :?

I've only ever seen one Victor Bailey in my life and that's the 4 string electric that I own. I ordered it new in '01 or '02. Some time after that I noticed they moved production to Japan. It could be they've moved it again or just discontinued it but it was definitely Japan at that time which was maybe 5 years ago or so that I went looking for it. It was because of an internet ad (eBay, maybe?) that I'd seen indicating it was Japanese that I went searching for it.

Back on topic (cuz this thread is supposed to be about non-Fender amps we use) I think I said earlier in the topic that I use an SWR but I'm pretty sure I never posted a pic.

Nice photo,...Hang onto both the bass & the amp as I'm sure they'll be collectable down the road,.........Yeah the Victor Bailey was MIJ,..... don't know why I thought Korea ???
Probably because at the time I was also looking at the 24 fret Jazz bass..who knows..
Nice looking rig,.... I think Fender & SWR could of kept the Red Head, Black Beauty, Spellbinder Blue & 750X Amp head in production ...(at least)
I'll be hanging on to my SWR gear for a long time,..... hopefully the next batch of Fender bass gear that hits the market will take a few cue's from SWR,....... :)

I think they already did, didn't they? The 400 watt Bassman Pro combo (224-5500-010) with two 10s, a horn and a 1u rack space looks suspiciously like a Redhead. I never tried one since I already have the perfect bass combo so I don't know how it sounds but I do remember thinking out loud that right around that time they discontinued the Readhead and brought out the Bassman 400 Pro. I don't know if the newer Rumble version is the same amp.

The Bassman pro 400W Combo,.... yeah there's definitely a Cue from SWR on this amp.
I think it was discontinued in 2010,.... a beauty of an amp.
Fender debut the Current Rumble 350 head & combo in 2010 ...hmmmm

SWR also once sold a great little low/mid wattage bass amp called Baby Blue. Most common was the version with two 8s and a 5 but there was also a less common version with a single 10 and a horn. You wouldn't think a little amp like that would have much grunt but it thumped pretty hard considering it was under 100 watts. They rated it at 120 watts but that was at 1 kHz. I think when you checked it at 20 Hz - 20 kHz it was around 85 or 90 watts IIRC. I knew a guy who had one back in the early 90s (two 8s version) and it was a wonderful amp for practice or small venues. Clear, deep and punchy. I think it was more popular with stand up bass viola players than your typical Fender electric guy but my buddy's Precision sounded great through it.

Markbass: Mini CMD121P Combo / Markbass: NY121 cab. It's 300 watts @ 8 ohms, and 500 watts @ 4 ohms.
