Didn't you have one of those Rumble 100's a couple of years ago, as well?

Yeah, I did. It was a few years ago now. Unfortunately, I didn't hang on to it for too long. The Big Tube Head GAS came along, and goodbye Rumble 100.

I know what you mean. By the way, I think we probably did have discussions about this, but my brains been kind of Swiss cheese lately, I know you had the Ampeg 100 watt tube head, but what was the deal with the Fender version? I remember you've had the 300 watter, but you never bothered with the 100 watt one.

I never did mess with the Fender 100T. One of the main reasons I didn't, it had a bit of an issue with its Automatic Bias System.

I just saw that the two Bassman Heads now shown, are the Bassman 800, and the Super Bassman. The 115 NEO, the 410 NEO, 610 NEO, and the 810 NEO are it for the Bassman series. It looks like no more 500, and 100T Bassman heads.

Yeah, that's what that was. That Automatic Bias System thing. The cool thing about that amp is it had a switch to where you could take it down to 25 watts, so you could push it at a lower volume, which would be handy in certain circumstances. It's too bad the 300 watt one doesn't offer that option, which would make it a hell of an option for many purposes and places.

So they dropped those amps now? It's kind of like what they did with the Rumble stuff. I wonder what's up with that?

You're guess is as good as mine is on the gear stuff. I almost think, Fender doesn't want to screw with the Super Bassman. It's more of a pro amp that does what is supposed to at a full 300 watts. It could even be a power tube setup in the Super Bassman with 6 tubes. 100 Watts, down to 25 probably isn't as bad as 300 watts, down to 25. That's a lot of power to throttle down. Power tubes do work at their premium performance when running hot. As close to full balls as they can go.

That's true. maybe there are different components in them to not have that be feasible. I don't know a hell of a lot about the ins and out of tube amps, other than I know they take different type tubes for different power ratings. I also know there are certain maintenance things involved, and all of that. I think that's why I'm also very partial to Solid State, or I guess now, Class D, because it's pretty much low to no maintenance with it, other than being careful with the ohms thing. You don't have to worry about a lot of that other stuff, and the cost is usually lower, too. I suppose the sound is subjective to the individual, though. Personal preferences and all of that.

The newer D amps are getting to put out a tube sound, it almost doesn't pay to do the tube head.

Oh yeah, the technology is something else these days, with all of that.
