pretty cool stuff,...I'm a fan of Victor's playing. :)

I'm still bummed that Fender dropped Victor Bailey's signature basses from their line up... :(
They also dropped Steve Bailey at the same time. I can understand it though as Fender was tightening their belt,..... SWR was next & now it's happening to Genz Benz,

I'm amazed at times on how fast a product can be dropped, or how long it's on the market.

Mr. Nylon ..... recently I've been think a lot about this very thing. I think manufactures give everything that's released to market a performance window & if the product doesn't perform decently in this time frame it gets dropped.

In some instances, I'm almost tempted to purchase some extra product, in case they stop production. With-in price reason of course.

Funny you should say this,...... as this is how I currently feel about my SWR Headlite & Amplite, They were released to Market in 2009,... I purchased my Headlite in November 2010 & my Amplite in March 2011 & they're both now discontinued.
The same goes for the SWR 550 & 750 heads,... I wouldn't mind if I could at least get one of those heads but as you well know they're also discontinued as of 2012. ( the 550 & 750 heads are starting to pop up on Craigslist)
But I gotta say you've piqued my interest in the Mark Bass Little Mark Tube 800, & I also still like the Gallien Krueger MB Fusion 800, ..... I also recently heard the Tech 21 VT 1969 300 watt head & was impressed, there's also the more powerful Tech 21 VT 1000.
The cool thing about the Tech 21 heads is that they have a Power amp imput in the back of the head that would allow me to connect my 400watt amplite,...... on the plus side there's a lot of exciting stuff out there... :)

It seems more important for a player to get the gear most likely to last as long as possible, since who knows when it may not be available, or cheapened.

I received an e-mail answer from Markbass regarding the use of the Little Mark Tube 800 head with the Traveler 102P cab. They advised me to not use the Tube 800 because of it's higher wattage over the 102P. I took their advice, and went to the Little Mark lll head. A bit lower wattage, but I like the sounds from the newly acquired Little Mark lll better. $200. Cheaper too.

The Little Mark III has gotten good reviews....... what's the wattage,.....& how doest it compare to the Tube 8oo?? I'm intrigued by these amps ( I hope Fender is listening.. :) )
I think that besides Gallien Krueger & Fender ..... Mark Bass is becoming a standard (in my area) & of course there's still Ampeg .... :)

The Little Mark lll is 300 watts RMS @ 8 ohms, and 500 watts RMS @ 4 ohms. My Markbass Traveler 102P cab is 8 ohms. Markbass does make the 102P in a 4 ohms cab also. For the Tube 800, if I ran two 102P 8 ohms it would have been ok. But I'm just running the single 8 ohms cab, so I went with the Little Mark lll.

Since I don't require the 450 watts RMS @ 8 ohms of the Tube 800, the Little Mark lll is great. The settings on it do very well to bring out the bright tones on the Gibson SG Std. Humbucking pups are good, but a bit different tone wise. My 1969 EB0 never sounded this good. It's a long and winding road, that's for sure.

Well you're definitely doing it the right way( by trial & error) I hope this one's the one for you. :)

They dropped them from MIA production some time ago. For the past 8+ years or so they've been MIJ/CIJ guitars but it looks like they've been dropped from Fender Japan as well. Mine is one of the early MIA ones.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
