Just picked up a nice 70s Bassman cab for my 135 head. My wife will be so pleased when she hears the two 15" JBLs in action, she may be speechless. Or maybe I just won't be able to hear?????

Hey Mr. Nylon whats the deal with the photo of the Mark Bass rig!!
I thought you bought a GK MB210-ll ........ & what's your opinion of Mark Bass??
They're a very popular amp in my area... I'm on the fence with regard to Mark Bass.

Markbass Traveler 102 P cab. For the sound I like, the Markbass is it! It's made like a brick shitzzz house, and the speakers, and tweeter are incredible. The Mesa Power House cab is close to the Markbass, but I really like the Markbass. I'm impressed with the speaker grill mountings to the cab. Markbass maybe spent an extra two bucks for the mounting hardware, to eliminate grill rattle.
The Little Mark Tube 800 head compliments the TRV 102 P cab, and the cooling fan motor is very quiet.

Good Stuff, thanks for sharing,.... lots of Mark Bass Gear at Long & Mcquade music (The Downtown location in Vancouver) ..... The sales guy in the Bass Dept said it's a big seller, then it's the Rumble line of amps & anything Gallien Kreuger, ....

I went to see Herbie Hancock in concert on June 30th ( he was here for the Vancouver Jazz Festival),...... Awesome show, lot's of Jazz/Funk anyway The Bass player had a tight clear kickass sound,......... He had what looked like a Mark Bass Mo Mark head ( all I could see was 2 rows of yellow knobs & it looked very Mark Bass),....... & he was using two 4x10 Harke cabinets,.....& he was playing a 5 string bass that I'm pretty sure (from where I was sitting) was a fretless with lined fret board,........
He also had 2 GK heads sitting at the side of the Drum platform that weren't being used.
Anyway I was very impressed with this guys playing & his sound,........ & I kept saying to myself wow if this is a Mark Bass head ...I'm Impressed,....( of course the Harke's & I'm sure a Compressor factor in there too.) :)
The next big show I'm going to see is Rush on July 26th they're getting Rave reviews on this tour (as they do on all their tours)....... it will be my 7th time seeing them. They never disappoint.

I played through Markbass a few times in local stores. On the 4th of July, my daughter sang the National Anthem at a fireworks event. They had a band playing before she sang. The bass player was playing through a Markbass combo. A 2X10. It sounded great. I wasn't able to hear first hand a Markbass live until that night. I tried it out again at the store the next day. It had the same basic sound in the store as it did live. Soooooo,....... that nailed it for me.

Congrats on the purchase,...Mr.Nylon,..... the one thing about Mark Bass I find interesting is their inter changeable Amp frames & EQ & pre-amp modules,.......very smart!! :)
check out this link: http://www.markbass.it/products.php

So what's your opinion on Mark Bass vs. TC Electronic & Gallien Krueger?? :)

I'm not suprised you feel this way about Mark Bass, they do look well built & have some nice tonal options..,......everytime I'm at Long & McQuade Vancouver,...I'll look at the Mark Bass units & think to myself .....Man these amps look solid,.....I've heard people playing through Mark Bass Amps but I've never played one or checked one out (yet) but that may change,...... :) out of curiousity...

You really should play through a Markbass, and see if your sound comes out of one. If your sound isn't there, you'll know, and nothings' lost.

I'm due for A Long & McQuade Music Store visit next week,..... I want to pick up a set of medium gauge DR Sunbeams ....... ( gonna put them on my Jaco Fretless,.... I think the Pau Ferro fret board can handle rounds),........ I've always used Flats on this bass,....& while I'm there I may as well take a Mark Bass unit for a spin... :)

Here's a shot of my older, heavier rig:

Glockenklang Soul Head & Epifani 2X10 cab - I'm still enjoying my GK MB-112 II - in fact, I'm going to use it on a gig at a small place for the first time in a few weeks - but if I know I have parking and time I think I would take this!

The Bassman 135 head I bought awhile back finally has a body.

Image

Probably never moving from my music room, too darn heavy.

Speaking of "other than Fender" though, at my Wisconsin office I keep a Crate 50 under my desk and that is really a nice little amp. It'll rattle the office windows if I want it to. And I like the built in tuner for on the fly.

I always loved those Bassman 135's. The tone just seemed to be better than the 100's. I don't know why.
