I'm looking forward to lighter Rumble 100 again. The first one I had wasn't around for too long. I think I went back to the head / cab amp, about five, and a half years ago. Maybe one of the best moves Fender did with the Rumble series as a whole, was to drop the MDF from the cabs of the entire series. Personally, the rat fur never did anything for me either.

Sometimes weight has an advantage, depending on what the item is. Larger rifle caliber, heavier ammo to carry, but the firepower to do what needs to be done. One round, in place say four? Semi auto, controlled fire can be more effective than the majority of Spray, and Pray fire.

Yeah, that amp should be ideal, especially with the power and weight ratio for your needs. I need something with a little more power, but that's because sometimes I have to play in situations that can get loud as hell, and I don't want to push my amp too hard to keep up. It's better safe than sorry, and if I don't need the juice, I do have a volume knob. In fact, when I've been jamming with my girlfriend, with her playing the Roland drums through the Rumble 350 combo, I've had it turned down, because even running at 400 watts at 8 ohms, that amp gets loud as hell in the house, and we're still pretty loud at the volume we're running at. I can only imagine that Ampeg running full bore with two 4 x 10" cabs, instead of one would be like.

I've read that in Afghanistan, they had to go back to using M14 rifles in some situations (albeit modernized or modified from the old school stocks and all of that,) because the M4's were problematic with the 5.56mm round in certain situations. Something to do with distance and building barriers, or something like that.

A .223 Remington cartridge is good for varmints, but the .308 Winchester is a longer distance, more accurate man size, or larger cartridge. A Remington Bolt Action, 700 PSP .308 Winchester, with a Shepherd, or Leupold scope, and the proper loading of the cartridge, 3 shots in the size of a dime @ 1,000 plus yards.

I would not even consider the Rumble 100 for situations you may be playing in. It is what it is, and perfect for smaller, less volume playing. I do agree with you, and some players still don't understand what a volume knob on an amp is for. Turn the volume down if you have too. It's better to have the power, and not need it most of the time, or whatever. But at least the power is there. Your 400 watts @ 8 ohms, is substantial. A good amp to have. When I had the Ampeg 7PRO, going through the SVT-410HLF, that was 1,000 watts, and it was deafening, at lower settings. I won't get into the Super Bassman into the same cab.

I know what you mean, when I had the Orange, I had to keep it on such a low volume, with the gain barely around the first marker, when I was rehearsing upstairs in the house. I did have to go up a little bit when I was rehearsing in Boston, because that guitar player was loud as hell, running full bore through a Roland JC-120 120 watt combo amp.

As it is now, for the house, my girlfriend is looking into getting some sort of headphone amp so we can practice late night, when the bass amps might be too much, because of any neighbors. Although, no one has ever complained, and I'm not even sure how far the sound carries outside the house, if it does, but we don't want to push our luck, too. I did suggest just getting a couple of Fender Rumble 15 combos, because you can run those and it would be fine. That's the one cool thing about electronic drums, they do have a volume knob to them, unlike acoustic ones.

Wow. That is a hefty advantage to the E drums. Volume control. At times, small amps do have a niche they work in.

Yeah, that can come in handy, since acoustic drums can get pretty loud, especially when you have a heavy hitter on them. A small amp like that would also work out well in the living room, when I'm watching a movie. I've always liked to practice when I did that, because I've come up with a lot of ideas that way, because I'm not really thinking about it, but then I also wind up forgetting stuff, because I'm just noodling around.

I'm back to the title of this thread. Back to the Hartke HD75. It just makes too much sense to hang on to the HD75, over the Rumble 100. Image

It wasn't worth doing that then?

Kinda' like usual with me, yes, and no. Both of the combos overall have good 12" drivers. The HD75 cab is heavier, and it has a bit more size that may help the sound from it. I guess I'd have to give the 7 band EQ on the HD75 a bit more tuning abilities. The difference of 25 watts more to Rumble, probably doesn't really mount too much, at least in my playing area here. I would have to lay out some cash as well. The Hartke is fine for me with the EB-0. Image

Yeah, I can see there would have been some pros and cons there, between the both of them.

The cash was more of the consideration on not changing out.

Yeah, if you have to put down extra cash, that can put a damper on things. It's certainly prevented me from a lot of stuff, because I can only get so much for what I have sold, and that's that. Otherwise, I could have gotten things like the Epiphone EB-0 bass, which costs more than the Ibanez I did get, not that I regret the purchase. I would have liked to have picked one of those up.

Yep! The same here also Paul. I did spend more on the Hartke, that's fine with me. My choice would usually tend to lean more to the bass being a bit more to my total liking. Both are almost the same in price. The HD75's cost is a bit easier for my wallet than a lot of other 1X12 combos are. The HD75 cost was about $10.00 over the EB-0. So even if the EB-0 did cost more, I would be more likely to do the EB-0, since I'm a total sucker for the SG body, and just in my opinion, my most treasured playing bass.

I remember when the EB-0 basses were a lot cheaper, something like around $200, but I suppose like everything else, things change. That's good you got a really decent bass that you're happy with, either way, and if the amp works out just as well, then that's a bonus, too. 8)
