Yeah, I've read the history about that. It's funny, the FBI, or some sort of feds actually investigated that band because of that song. Did you ever hear about that story? I guess someone thought the lyrics might be obscene or something like that.

Louie, Louie; actually made it into Congressional hearings. That was a total waste of time, and a load of whatever. The Kingsmen's "Jolly Green Giant", record got them into hot water as well. They were sued by the GREEN GIANT company, corporation, what ever the hell they were back then.

They were saying the lyrics to "Louie Louie" were indecipherable, or something like that. I think the singer had some sort of dental work, or something going on with him when he sang the song, and that's why. I forget the actual story about it, but yeah, that is ridiculous. It's kind of funny, considering there's been so much worse stuff to have came out since that time. Imagine if the death metal band Cannibal Corpse was around at the time. For example, they have a song called "Meat Hook Sodomy." That probably wouldn't have done too well on The Ed Sullivan Show, would it have? :P

That was I think 1962 when Louie, Louie was recorded. It was released a couple of times, or something like that. My dad knew the the whole bit about the song, and the guys. I really should've spent more time with him in the studios, instead of rambling around, those dirty old towns. Too late now as the story goes.

Well, I suppose you didn't think about it at the time. I certainly can say that there's been quite a few things I've wished I've done, but like you say, too late now. I guess that the only thing you can do is try to make do with what you do have, and make the best of it.

Yeah, that sums it all up.

I can safely say, I've done some questionable gear moves over the years.

Yeah, I know what you mean. What would you say was the one you really regretted doing? I think mine was the 50's reissue Precision bass I had in the 90's. That, and maybe that Kawai bass, which was a copy of an Alembic.

Some of my bass moves were boneheads, at best. But the moves that were the ones I regretted the most, were the amps. Almost too many to list, as they were somewhat similar. Most of those were head / cab types. A couple of combos, but mainly head / cabs. The Ampeg V-4B / SVT-212AV, and the Super Bassman / Hartke HD115, were two of the top bonehead moves.

I remember both of those. You had the Ampeg this past year, at least. Didn't you also have the Super Bassman with the Ampeg SVT-212AV?

No, for the $1,800. I liked the Fender Super Bassman better. Just me.

I think it would be better, as well. I don't know, I just get that vibe, and I do like the sound of Fender amps.
