Interesting, but very time consuming to make them correctly. The old style Zelidgen Cymbals were hand made as well. There are two types of Zelidgen Cymbals. The "A" type, and the "Z" type. One is supposedly better than the other, but I don't remember which is which. The two types are made in different countries. Some of that of course comes down to personal preference too for which is better.

I didn't know that much about them. Although, it's kind of funny how much I do know about drum gear I do know, even though I don't play them. You could describe a lot of stuff, like Gibraltar hardware, and Zildjian cymbals, and I'd know what you're talking about. Maybe that's from a lot of interaction with drummers over the years, I picked up on that. I suppose that goes with the territory being a bassist.

I know what you mean about a kind of bonding with drummers. Other than doing drums myself for a bit in the early days, my oldest best friend was a drummer. I got to know some of the more well known ones very easily. Drums just seem to have a bit of an aura about them.

When I first started getting into music, or the idea of playing music, I thought I was going to play drums, since the friend who got me into the whole thing played guitar, and there was another friend who played bass, but that person was already in another band, and it was just easier (and cheaper) to get a bass guitar. Certainly a lot easier to learn to play, since you don't have to deal with multiple drums and pedals to work with your hands and feet.

After a bit though, all those drums, and pedals just become second nature like they're there, but not there. It all falls into place. Just like on a bass, when to slide a note on the board for example.

Yeah, I suppose it's just like anything else that you may learn.

Yeah, just like anything that you practice long enough at and it will. I've certainly realized this with playing bass for 31 years now. The interesting thing about it is you're more aware of the instrument in various forms and in music, besides what you can play on it. I actually understand a lot more music now than I did when I was younger, and just starting out. You pick up on a lot more nuances, I think.

I agree totally. I wish I knew back then, even half of what I picked up over the years. 51 Years now since I started with the bass. But I'm glad I did start up.

Yeah, I have 31 in, myself. I can't imagine not playing, especially at this point in my life. I mean people who don't play anything, what do they even do with themselves? That's such an alien concept to me, especially people who are music lovers. How can you listen to a lot of music, and not want to play it yourself?

I guess if was not playing something, listening to the music, humming along, and to tapping my fingers like I was playing the drums to it. Oh yeah,........... that's what i do now when I'm not playing. Image

I think playing music stays with you, even when you're not playing anything.

It does get to be a deep rooted thing doesn't go away. It's a good thing as well.

OMG!!! Do you know who just contacted me on TB? The Chef from The Conservatory site. He's still a live. He goes under the name, BergerHead on TB.

Talk about a blast from the past, there. He used to be around here, as well. I remember he used to complain about this place all of the time over there.

He's over there now, since sometime last year. I really don't care.
