They definitely don't have any vintage vibe to them, unless you consider the 80's vintage, which technically it is now, but I've always like the sound of them. They have to use double ball end strings, because there isn't a head stock (although, I think the new NS Design basses you don't,) but I found out LaBella makes flats and nylons for those. They aren't cheap, though. The flats were $49.99 for a set at the place I saw that.

That's about the price of the ETB92 Nylons before a sale, or price break on them.

That's true, nylons usually cost more than flats, depending on who, what, when, and where. I know La Bella strings are usually more expensive, as well. D'Addario rounds usually are among the cheapest, although I've noticed their flats have gone up in price for some reason. They are even more expensive than the Rotosounds were now. AMS wants $39.99 for a set of D'Addario flats, depending on the size, with certain ones a couple of bucks cheaper.

I suppose $49.99 for a set of La Bella specialty flats isn't too bad, considering that they aren't common at all, and it's not like you'll go through them as fast as rounds, usually. I'm actually amazed they even make them in the first place, but I suppose even Steinberger players might want flats, too.

I always contend, that if I weren't using Nylons, Flats would be my choice strings. The Epi Viola plays very well with the ETB92N Nylons. It's a 30.5" scale, set for (.45, .65, .85, .105). The Medium Scales fit better than shorts, because of the bridge location on the Epi. I would think your Douglas would be the same since it seems to be about the same, or very similar. Image

Yeah, I had to used medium scale flats because of that bridge. I remember doing some research about that before I bought them, to make sure. I got some Rotosound flats from Chicago Music Exchange's site, since they had them, and that was the brand I was using at the time, and they had free shipping.

I imagine those nylons work quite well with the violin bass being a hollow body. You probably sound pretty close to an upright bass with that setup. I know Paul McCartney used Rotosound nylons on his Hofner when they recorded the "Let It Be" album. I've seen pics of it. He might have used it on "Abbey Road," but I think he was using the Ric on that one. I don't remember, but I'm sure that info is online, just have to look it up.

I've heard a good number of his playing that sounded to me to be Nylons. He is an incredible bass player.

Yeah, that he is. He played bass and did backup vocals on a new Ringo Starr track, that was originally written by John Lennon for the "Double Fantasy" sessions, right before he was killed, and it is classic McCartney in style with those high note fills he does. I've often wondered what would have happened if John Lennon never was assassinated what would have happened. Would they have ever reunited, that sort of thing. I guess we'll never know, though. It's one of those things in life that worked out that way.

Anyone's guess is as good as it gets for that about how the former Beatles would have been able to put old issues aside for anything. Sometimes petty little things stick in the craw more than the bigger major things may.

Little things have a way of getting totally blown out of proportion. Egos' don't help things either.

That's true, there is always that factor that weighs in with that crap.

Some things aren't easily forgiven either.

Yeah, but it also depends on if there's also money to be made, as well.

I think I could be a bit easy going, looking at it that way. But of course, I've never been in that social category of SUPER STARDOM. THE BEATLES!!!

I don't think a lot of people have. The Beatles were and still probably are a cultural phenomenon. It's amazing how that happened to them. Talk about being in the right place at the right time in life.
