Well, if they don't ever make one, there is a way to do it, albeit probably more expensive. You could get some kind of 4 x 12" cab and put those HyDrive 12" speakers in them. That might work.

Marshall 4x12 cabs would work nice. Image

I was thinking about Marshall cabs, as far as that goes. I think they would work rather well for that.

Maybe some that are blown, or just the boxes, since you'd replace the speakers to begin with. Either way, it would cost some bucks just for getting 4 speakers, unless they offer some sort of discount on buying multiple speakers in the amount of 4, which sometimes happens with certain businesses.

I haven't looked into pricing for replacements of the Hartke HyDrive 12's. The 4X12 cab would be something! Image

I know. I found a place that sells Hartke parts and actually have them: https://www.fullcompass.com/prod/537745 ... ydrive-112 They want $124.00 for those, so times that by 4, and that's $496.00 just for that. Then you have to add whatever you can get for the cab, and whatever else, if needed.

That isn't too bad of a price per driver. As far as I know, the HyDrive is the top Series. I'd have to think comparable top series drivers must be close to that in price.

That's true. Sometimes, maybe even more than that. At least the option to even get them exists.

Right, at least they're available. I do wonder how todays HyDrives would stack up to the older JBL, Altec Lansings, and Jensens?

I don't know, but that would be interesting to see that tested.

What would think is the modern equivalent to those speakers, like Altec, and those speakers these days?

Altec, Voice of the Theatre, from then, I guess I'd say HyDrive, Eminence, and I guess the old stand by that used a lot back then, and still around, Jensens. Celestions are about still too. I guess they're all good in their own way. My favorite sounds from back then, you know it's coming,............... JBL. I think if I ever had the cash back then, and could swing a cab with JBL's, I'd never have parted with it.
