The height of the season is about now. FL actually runs through Oct. for it's higher probabilities of a storm. Like Hurricane Wilma.

Yeah, I guess when this crap is over, I just hope we don't have a brutal winter this year, with blizzards, and whatnot. At least you don't have to deal with that crap.

You're so right about that.

I know what you mean. The last serious time I was in blizzard conditions, was 1962 / 1963 winter in Utica, NY. Too much fun.

Wow, that's been awhile, then. I take it that place probably gets some nasty winters, then.

Utica is along that snow line, in middle to upper NY state, east of Syracuse, and Buffalo. Nasty winters can be a very true statement. The winter of 1962 / 1963 was just that. The 1962 summer was hot, even by my Florida standards, that I had just moved from. The winter was freezing with winds that were brutal there.

That's not too far from the Canadian boarder, too, isn't it? That's the one thing about New York that always throws me off, because New York City is going south from where I live, yet it still boarders Canada, which is north from here. I suppose because it's a long state like that.

Long enough to the west where it borders on Canada, and Pennsylvania. The NY Throughway runs through Utica. I liked it there, but i was young enough to not have to worry about finding a job there.

Would you say it was kind of in the boonies around there, with not a lot going on?

It was on a plateau, half way up a mountain, with 50 houses there.

Yeah, not exactly New York City, huh. It's kind of funny how that city is so different than a lot of that state, but then again you can say that about a lot of other states. Florida is a good example of that. I mean compare a place like Miami or Tampa to somewhere up northern Florida, where it's the sticks. Old Town, Florida was like that, at least when I was there when I was 20 years old. It had that almost "Deliverance" vibe to it. :P Who knows, it's probably all gentrified and developed now, like anything else. I think with the access to the internet, satellite services, and the fact you can order things from them, there really isn't that sort of isolation anymore, unless you choose to do so.

If I live another year or two, We're going to move away from southern FL, to central to north FL. It's what I like to call old FL, or the old south. It was more laid back, and folks were just more decent to each other.
