That's true, and that wouldn't help to having to be careful in removing them, if you had to.

It was better too just have another head ready to take its place, and change out the tube, or tubes later. The back panel has to be removed, just to get to the part of the chassis where the power tubes are. No different from back then, or now.

Yeah, that would have made the most sense, and certainly less time consuming, which in that situation is critical.

It wasn't that unusual to have two, say Marshall 100's running, and a third as a total backup, where all it took was, disconnect the supply cord, and connect it to the backup. Seven seconds from start to finish, by passing the tube issued amp.

Yeah, they still do that. I've seen quite a few bands that will have a backup amp stacked with the cabs, and whatnot. It might appear they are running more than one or two amps, because of that, but it's actually not the case.

It's just a good plan to implement in case an issue arises during a show. It always worked for me anyway.

It does sound like the best way to do that, if you have the means to do so. I suppose if I were to be able to tour in that capacity, I'd certainly have a backup of some sort, and at least have it ready, just in case.

When you're in those biggies, yep. In the Fort Lauderdale Armory, no.

That was kind of a local Fort Lauderdale joke back then. Comparing the bigger halls to the Fort Lauderdale Armory. The Armory isn't big. Somewhat similar to Leeds, where The Who recorded The Who Live At Leeds album.

I looked that up out of curiosity, and I saw it is some gun shop and shooting range. Is that the right place?

No,......... This is a for real U.S. Army National Guard Armory, on State Rd. 84, in SW Fort Lauderdale.

Oh, OK. I did see something mentioned about that, as well, now that you mention that. Are those places near each other?

Now it's about 22 to 25 miles south of me now. In the mid 60's, to early 70's, I did live in Fort Lauderdale, close to it, and in the area. I did a lot of growing up there. Good Times, Bad Times.
