I don't blame you for that, considering Hartke is or was more widely available (plus, a ton on the used market, since they've been around since 1984, in one form or other,) unlike Markbass, which you can only get through Guitar Center, unless it's used somewhere.

Markbass isn't that well recognized for their repair warranty work. And they aren't the same as the were a few years ago, for QC. I can do with outgoing through GC as much as possible also.

Well, they did outsource some stuff to Indonesia, besides being made in Italy, so that might have effected some QC, although for the most part, Indonesia isn't that bad for that sort of thing, but I guess it depends on who and what it is. Some companies have higher QC standards than others, as well.

That's true about Indonesia. The main issue I had with the newer Markbass, the absence of the B&C drivers.

The speakers that they replaced them with you don't think they're just as good?

I honestly, don't think the new speakers are any where near as good as the B&C were. They don't take the lower notes as well as the B&C's did. And I'm talking about an E, from a 4 stringer, not a B, from a 5 stringer. Markbass is higher in price now with a lesser product. Another reason for rating the Hartke as a better overall setup. For what I play with anyway.

Well, that's not good if a bass cab doesn't handle a low E too well. That seems like they'd be better suited for guitars, or as an additional cab for mids, or highs, like a 2 x 10" that you'd pair with a 15" or something. If that's your main speaker, it really should be able to handle your bass, otherwise you're going to have problems. I don't blame you for wanting to go to something like Hartke, or any other amp, especially if they are also jacking the price on it, too.

I do feel better with Hartke for the price, and the reliable workings of it. If Fender had a different design for power, and ohms, a Rumble would've been a top choice. One other pro for the Hartke, over the Rumble, price. The only Rumble head offered at this time, when I was in the market for one, the Rumble 800 HD at $599. My little HA2500, $299. Go.....! Image

That's true, they dropped the 200 and 500 models. I suppose there's Ampeg, with their PF-350 around that price point, or the PF-500, but that's an extra $100. Either one of those don't have the graphic EQ, or tube preamp, though, if that's something you want as a feature.

Like I said, for this old man, my little Hartke is looking, and sounding better all the time.

I would certainly believe so. It looks like all of the right pieces are there to fit the puzzle. 8)

Hartke's aren't that well known I think, or just looked over. Jack sure knew about them, and he was one of the world's best.

That's true, he did do that. I wonder what ever became of all of his gear like that? I'll bet his son probably inherited at least some of it, maybe the basses, anyway. He plays, as well.

Since Jack endorsed Hartke, he may not have owned them. Jack's son in all probability did get what ever gear was Jack's personally owned.

Yeah, you think he was just supplied them whenever he played somewhere? I know sometimes bands will use backlines that are supplied by a venue, or company. When you did road gigs, did you typically just haul the amps for the bands you worked for, or did you deal with supplied backlines from those others?

I imagine his son has them, as well. Especially the original Gibson bass he had in Cream, and his Warwick signature basses.
