Yeah, I'd say so.

I don't remember when they started to scale down in size drastically, but I'm glad they did. I can say that now, since I free, and clear of GAS for tube heads.

Yeah, I imagine tube amps can be fun, but I suppose a pain in the arse, as well. I'm pretty happy with the solid state stuff, even the Class D, which is what I'm using for both bass amps. They sound pretty good to me. I'll admit, I don't recall ever playing into an all tube bass amp, so I couldn't really tell you how those are, in any situation, but I have used and owned amps that had tube preamps, though. At least you're Hartke head has a tube preamp, so if you want that tone, you have it available.

The weight of a tube amp is a deterrent to buy one for sure. They do sound very ROCK and ROLL. But the average price as compared to almost all SS amps, makes them more of a specialty item anymore, I think anyway. For my purposes, as you state, the Hartke HA2500 works fine for me. And I like it paired up with the 112b cab. Long live 12's.

Yeah, an Ampeg SVT head weighs 80 pounds, which is more than my Fender 4 x 10" cab weighs, so there is that. Then there's also the expense of maintenance, with tubes, and all of that stuff. I suppose if none of that is an issue, then I suppose they'd be hard to beat for that particular sound, whatever that is. I suppose it's all just down to personal preferences, anyway. Not everyone is going to like the same thing, that's why there's also a ton of choices out there. Not everything is going to be ideal for every situation, as well. Some things will work better than others, that's for sure. I'll bet if I was playing in huge rooms to where I could really open up, that 18" speaker would have been better suited. It's just like trying to use a 100 watt Marshall head for guitar in a small club, you can't open it up without blowing people's heads off, but in a huge place, sure.

The price of six decent power tubes for a Super Bassman runs way up there. The Ampeg tube heads are no better.

They take the same tubes, don't they?

I think they are the 6550 power tubes in both. If the tubes need replacing in either monster, it's worth getting the matched tubes. They cost more to acquire them, but that's kinda' the expense of using a good tube head. My little HA2500 looks better to me every day. It fits nice on the top of the 112b cab also. Going to the Hartke setup saved me, when I really needed it.

That's true. I know you weren't doing too well there, and had to get rid of everything, except for that Jazz Bass. At least now, you've been able to have a decent rig again so you can play.

Like I said the only negative was, I really didn't need to sell the AC Jazz, as I thought I did. Things happen. I don't miss the AC Jazz, so no harm. Go Hartke.

I was just watching a Slightly Stoopid live video and they were running a Fender Jazz through a Markbass Littlemark head through an 8X10 SVT cab. It sounded great but the visual was kinda funny.

Well, the Jazz you have now seems to be a nice player, so no big loss there, then. Plus, you were able to get a rig back, as well. That bass wouldn't have been as much fun without something to amplify it with.

That's an odd combination, but whatever works, works.

After I posted that I went back to the video and payed closer attention to the headstock and bridge and realized it was a Lakeland not a Fender.

The AC didn't do much as an unplugged bass for sounds. I'm not saying the Player would do any better as an unplugged bass, either.
But I do trust the Hartke more, over the Markbass Mini CMD 121P for reliability. And now too that B&C drivers are no longer in the higher priced Markbass, GO Image
