Well, if it were the case that I could get any, it would probably be the 4 x 10" or 1 x 15" version, since they'd both play well with my amp alone, or stacked with another cab. I do have to factor in the 400 watts at 8 ohms that I do have, at least to some degree.

That ohms issue does get to be a total pain in the drain for sure. I got lucky wanting to use my Hartke set up all the way around. The 4 ohms, 300 watts cab, with the 250 watts running through it. And no HF Horn to mess with.

That's actually an ideal setup with those two. I suppose they do have the other 12" speaker that runs in 8 ohms, which might be doable, as well. I was looking at AMS, and there's actually quite a few 12" speaker cabs with various brands and price ranges. There was only 3 different 2 x 12" speaker cabs offered. One by Peavey, one by Ampeg (which you've had,) and another by Genzler, which was the most expensive one, at $1199.99. That's even more expensive than your basic Ampeg 8 x 10" SVT cab, by $200.

Hartke does offer the HD112 cab that has the switchable ohm selector, 8, or 4 ohm. That one is $399., in place of my 112b that's $299., and a straight 4 ohm. Both 300 watts RMS though.

Yeah, that's the one I'm thinking about, it's switchable ohms, and 300 watts with 8 ohms isn't too bad, since the Ampeg is 400 watts at that. AMS happens to have one on sale with a minor blemish for $339.99, or something like that. Knowing them, you'd probably have a hell of a time even finding what that is on it. Probably some tiny scratch, or something like that,

That doesn't sound bad at all.

SA did me ok on the Buttercream Jazz. They dropped it $47.00. Just what I needed to afford it. I think they were motivated to sell it also. No one was even looking at it, trying it out, etc.

Yeah, sometimes you can get really lucky like that, Come in at the right time, at the right place, and all of that. If it was sitting a while, they'll also want to move it, as well. What those basses cost them is a hell of a lot cheaper than what they sell them for to begin with, so it's not like they are going to lose a lot, even though you make out better on it. At least it used to be that way. When I was in a band with this dude that worked at a music shop, he was going to get me a deal on basses at his cost, and it was a hell of a discount, from what I remembered. That also might factor how many are ordered by the store, as well, though. Some bulk rate, I don't know.

The markup on musical instruments is up there alright. I kinda' figured they weren't loosing any on the lowered price of the Jazz. It was sold, and in all likelihood, was taken off of the stores floor plan from whatever lending corporation works their purchase financing.

That's probably what happened.

Those lending corporations keep pretty tight eyes on what the store has in stock, that they've laid out the cash for the store to purchase. For all I know, Fender may have a lending corporation of their own, like Whirlpool Corporation has.

I'm sure they must have something, since they are a corporation.

A large corporation at that, who's product isn't that inexpensive to start with. Also, the buying requirements both Gibson, and Fender had at one time to be an authorized dealer of their product line.

That's true, and it used to be only certain stores or areas could do that within certain distances, or something like that. Like you couldn't have two different stores sell Fender that were close by each other, I think.
