And for those times when you just need a bit more oomph:

Both cabs are loaded with JBL K140s, and the head has its original tube compliment (quartet of US Tung-Sol 6550s, Mullard GZ34, and GE 12AX7s).

I also have a Fender Bassman 300pro as backup.

I assembled it over the Summer to give me a way to expand my mustang and bronco rigs. Having stereo (250@ 8ohms)allows me to mix the two cabinets while still employing their full tonal spectrum. I inherited the mixer. It is an low power SS amp that overheats and shuts down easily, if you use the power. I only use the preamp to boost my line out from my xlr bronco output. For the mustang the headphone out with some conversion jacks works fine. The mixer does allow for bass, mid treble EQ if I want. I tend to keep them zeroed at 12 o'clock. I have not had a chance to take this rig out yet  . I used the bronco and the line out into the PA during a gig and it created a great room sound. I was very happy with it.

I intend to ditch the mixer and get a rack EQ with input boosting. Much more portable. What is nice is I can grab either cab separately and use it. Both cabs are bass cabs, but the tweeter in the 4x8 makes it very flexible. So, although a beast as one piece, it breaks up into very useful and reasonably easy to move parts. The 4x8 is 60.lbs/300 watts and the 15 is a little more than 50.lbs/400 watts.

I can use my SWR Rig in the same way, I could use my Headlite & Amplite together with my SWR 2x10 Goliath Jr. Cabinet & my SWR Working pro 4x10 giving me 800 watts of power or I could use the Headlite or Amplite alone with one of the cabinets & get 400 watts of power.

As you can see from the post here, most do not use Fender amps. I use the Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 with 212 cab.

This tread is titled Bass Amp: if not a Fender what do you use? The way I read it, the person who started this thread wanted to know what Bass amps Bassists are using other than Fender. My Rig is SWR & they're owned & distributed by Fender,....check out this link
on the Bass Amp section of the Fender Lounge & you'll see that Many Bassists are using Fender amps,
viewforum.php?f=23
.....actually I was using a Fender Bassman Combo 150 before I bought my current rig & next week I'm getting myself a Fender Bronco 40 to use as a Practice & recording amp... I also think you got a nice rig Aguilar make good amps......

There are a lot good amps in the market place. You just have to find what you like.
