Cool. 8) What's the story with this one? You got tired of the Fender and Ampeg already?

"Just when I thought was out, they keep pulling me back in." I have an old friend that wants me to lay down some bass tracks. I wasn't going to turn him down, and the big amp cab was too big. I got with him at a GC, and he liked the Markbass tone. I have to admit so do I. They are back to using plywood again, in place of the MDF. The Indonesia mfg., has been working great. 300 Watts @ 8 ohms works fine. I just may do the NY121 cab.

Well, that does make sense, since that cab would have been a huge pain in the arse to haul for recording, plus I know you've always been keen on 12" speakers, and those Markbass amps do seem to be really decent amps, anyway. The only negative I can see with them is they only sell them in Guitar Center (or affiliates like Musician's Friend,) which is kind of annoying, but then again, you can just order it online, too, and avoid any migraines. :P

I went through the store manager at the GC in Hallandale. It's one of the bigger GC stores, so the have a better stock. He held the Mini CMD 121P for me, that was still in the carton. The two GC stores that are close to me are the smaller ones. I live between the two by a few miles. The same thing goes with the big stores, but they are about 27 miles from the those two. Hallandale is south of me, almost into Miami Dade county. I-95 Southbound.
It was a good time to get the Mini CMD 121P, they're on sale, $150. off. Since it was in the carton, I jumped on it quick. I guess I probably will get the NY121 cab that matches the Mini CMD 121P, in a week or two when I have the funds.

One of the funny things that I noticed looking at the specs is that at least for the Ninja amps the 2x12" cab is actually lighter than the 1x12".

Jazz Bass through a Markbass. You're a man after my heart.

It sounds like you got a good deal with it, then. 8) I think that extra 12" cab will give it a nice boost, too. I just though of something, is that Ampeg 2 x 12" cab 8 ohms? I know it doesn't match up cosmetically, but I wonder how that would sound with it, being a 3 x 12" configuration? That's probably something you don't hear about too often.

The 2 x 12" is lighter? That's strange. You'd think it would be the opposite.

It's because the 1x12" is deeper front to back and only a couple of inches smaller in length.

I know the cab is three pounds heavier. It could also be the NY121 cab has a thicker multi-ply poplar, and more internal bracings, since there isn't the Mark ll head taking up space in the cab as it does in the Mini CMD 121P Combo. Cabs are usually a bottom support for the upper Combo, or head also.

That's true, it's designed to be paired with that combo amp.

I'm going to get the NY121 cab when the time is right.

For about this much. $599. The same as the Rumble 800

Oh, OK. At least it matches up with the combo, though.

It's actually one of the finer matches, and putting out 500 watts to boot. The compact cabs of the Markbass push the air out really well. there's no room in them to take on any more air than is needed. The rear venting of them works well also. TC Electronic rear ports their cabs also. Another European based company that also does some fine compact cabs with highly rated wattage, and rear ports. There may be something to that.

It seems like an overall good design, then. 8)
