Yeah, the one thing I had to get used to was the smaller real estate of the violin bass, which I'll bet is similar, since it is a copy of the Hofner. It was definitely a huge difference compared to the Precision I was playing, and the Schecter before that. That's why I had to get the short scale Ibanez, because I did get used to the smaller neck, and I was playing the violin bass pretty exclusively. Now, I'll probably wind up playing the Ibanez more, since it does behave better when amplified and not prone to the weather like the violin bass is, probably because it's essentially an acoustic instrument. Plus, the Ibanez has a P pickup in it, which does work really well through an Ampeg. Then again, Precisions and Ampegs go together like peanut butter and jelly, so there you go.

Those Gibson basses were really cool. That was really what gave me GAS for a hollow body bass more than anything, back in the day. I still want one of those old EB-1 basses, even though they are solid body, but just look like a hollow body. I don't have $9000 or whatever to get one, though. :P You know, I think Jack Bruce might have wound up with Felix Pappalardi's EB-1, from something I've read, trying to find out old info about his gear in the 70's. They said something that he had it and was playing it somewhere, but I don't know if it's true, or not. It's a strong possibility don't you think, since they knew each other and worked together? Someone certainly wound up with it after he died. I guess maybe Jack's son probably inherited his dad's gear after he died, who knows? He does play, too.

Jack played EB1's early on. That's not saying that Felix's EB1 didn't go to Jack though.

It could be either one, I suppose. Something must have happened to Felix's Gibson, though. I doubt they buried it with him, or was he cremated?

Felix was buried next to his mom.

Yes it is. Felix's name in Italian means Happy.

That's sad what happened to him. He was a talented dude. I told you that he lived a floor right above my girlfriend, where he was killed. In fact, she was exactly right below him when it happened. She remembers talking to the doorman about it, and all of that.

He was more than just talented. Felix was a musical master. RIP.

Yeah, him and quite a few others that have been lost, especially recently. :(

A lot of the players from that era, I getting into the older age, and the past catches up with ya', whoever you are. At 67, my mind feels like I'm 20 something, but my body is saying 67. And at 67, I'm a few years younger than a good number of those players are, or were.

I know what you mean about the mind thinking you are younger than what you actually are. I think music does that to you. It keeps you young.

You know Paul, I think you're right about music keeping us young. Or at least it seems that way. Image

I haven't messed with it recently, but I don't think I should have too much trouble dialing in a sound. I guess I'll really find out if I get it in a rehearsal, then live situation. When I messed with it here, I really didn't even have to do much with it at all to get a good sound.
