I try to stay current with things, but I still like to look back at other stuff, most of which was before I even was born. :P

It's good to do as you do with a somewhat comparison between the older, and newer technologies. It can go either way, saying gees that stuff was nothing compared to today. Or, I wish I used that stuff over today's. Personal preferences.

Yeah, the one thing I think you can't beat with today's tech is certainly the weight. Imagine 500 watt amps that weigh 4 pounds, and all of that. Hell, even 200 watt bass amps that fit in your back pocket, and I'm just talking about bass gear, never mind anything else. Still, it's hard to be those old analog reel to reel decks and recordings.

Reel to reel was a special sound.

It still is. There's a dude we know in Maine that has an all analog studio that we're going to be doing some recording at some point. I'm looking forward to that one.

Great! That will be a real experience.

Yeah, I think so, too. Analog does have that "punch" and warmth to it. Especially, bass.

Hammond B-3's with Leslie Cabs sounded wonderful on them also. A forgotten sound also, a drummers entire kit on an analog recorder.

I use an Orange Crush 120H. I play both guitar and bass, and have found that using a solid-state a guitar head allows me to play guitar and bass with the same head.

That sounds cool. 8) What kind of cabinet are you using with that?

I use a bass cab, because I am not about to play bass through a guitar cab. You can do it with a guitar amp, but not the cab.

As for the cab itself, I am still using my old Gallien-Krueger. That said, I am in the market to replace it. I most likely will go with Fender Bassman 410, unless Fender makes a 210 Bassman. As far as I know, the only Fender 210 is the combo, or the Rumble.

Have you ever heard of a 210 Bassman cab, just the cab itself?

I don't recall any 2 x 10" cab, other than the Rumble series. I have a Rumble 4 x 10" cab, and it's a decent cab, so I suspect the 2 x 10" variant would also work, if it has the same speakers in it. I'm pretty sure they are Eminence that they load in those. I also have an Orange head, but it's a Terror Bass 1000. I've never tried to play my Telecaster through it, since anytime I've used it, I'm usually playing with a guitarist, and just been on bass. If I did play any guitar, I'd just be playing through one of their amps.

The way I have always been told is that Rumble is the equivalent of Squire, and Bassman is the equivalent of real Fender, which is why I am hesitant on getting a Rumble.

That said, I do know people buy Classic Vibe, and put Fender pickups and hardware in it. Maybe the equivalent can be done with a Rumble?

I'm not sure, but I've had a 2nd generation Rumble 350 combo since 2012, and never had an issue, and it sounds good, besides the Rumble cab that I've had for almost a year now. Both do seem pretty solid, but I suppose you could always swap out the speakers, and things like that.
