The less humidity the better. The same thing for speakers as well.

Speakers aren't as tough as most people think they are. I'm amazes at the punishment they can take, and go to play another day. Image

Yeah, especially back then, when you'd be lucky if they handled 100 watts a piece.

And they were your only source of sound. Play an amp through PA, no way.

That's true. PA was in it's infancy, you could say.

I suppose it was because of "Beatlemania" that it led to further development, because of the sizes of the audiences, and all of that. You know, The Beatles had only two roadies, and their gear reflected on what they could carry. I watched an interview with Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney, and they were talking about that.

the Vox Super Beatle Amps were no big deal. Ringo's Ludwig set for the most part was a standard type set, until Keith Moon had the double bass drum setup. Image

It's kind of strange the Beatles didn't have a large crew backing them up, but then again, I suppose that thing didn't really happen yet, with the huge stadium tours, and all of that. They just started to dip into that right before they stopped touring, and the other bands like The Who, and The Rolling Stones took that to that level, with the road crews, and stacks of gear.

I suppose if they decided to start playing shows again, before they split up, there would have been better equipment for them for PA, and they could have hired a few extra people to help. Another thing with the two people they did have, one of them being Mal Evans, those guys were with them from the very beginning at the Cavern Club, and still helped them after the fact. They were also personal assistants.

The PA's had a huge affect over the years on the size of amps. As the PA's got larger, and more powerful, players started to get smaller cabs, and in many instances, one cab. A lot easier to move, and more cost efficient than three full stacks of Monster Amps. the Monster Amps are impressive looking though.

They can certain carry the grunt work, with larger places these days. You have subwoofers to throw out some bass, too.
