Oh well, Jazz Basses, my all-time favorite subject :) might as well chime in...

Here's my current No. 1 player, a 2008 American Deluxe Jazz Bass V Ash:

Image

The photo is from a recent studio session, had to crop my ugly mug outta it, for your viewing pleasure :P I know it's an action shot, so the view of the bass is kinda obscured by the hands, and whatnot, but this is the best photo of this instrument I have, and I'm not gonna subject this beauty to the horrors of cell phone pics :D

Stratman204, you don't have to be 40 to have good taste!! I got my original walnut vintage '77 shown above when I was 17!! It's been my main bass ever since!!

I bought the Deluxe Jazz about a year ago, and just recently added the VM-Jaguar as a running mate.

Although I have a couple other Squiers, this pair looks really nice together on the bandstand - and hanging from my wall in the music room::

Oh yeah - there's an Ibanez SR500 in there too:::

Nice guys!! All my friends will poop themselves after seeing these, they are all into schecter basses(yuck) and ltd basses(OMG YUK) and im like, i love the retro look and awesomeness of jazz basses and their response is always "dude you're 19, not 40..."

Who cares what they say? I used to deal with the same thing, showing up to Hardcore gigs with my Fender, while everyone had their Ibanez. I too had Ibbies, but now down to 3 Fenders. It's how you play, not what you play. Plus a decent amp helps ;)

Hey there now! I have a Schecter Stiletto Custom 4 that I love too! I mean yeah, I prefer the Am Standard, but they're all part of the bass family :)

although, it is pretty funny that all my "hardcore" friends love the Schecter over the Jazz bc it has the EMG's in there, which are "obviously active and 10x better"... it's funny how some people don't realize how they're EMG-Hz's... which are passive. shows how much they know...

Well that's because a lot of people don't realize EMG is the only one out there that makes active pickups, every one else makes active preamp for the pickups. As far as HZ go, it's the only passive pickups that EMG makes, but Schecter uses active preamp just like any other guitar manufacturer that advertises active electronic.

Couldn't agree with you more Rez. If someone prefers one brand or model over another, so what? As you said, it's how you play.

My MIM Standard J Bass, with a nice pick guard I got from an eBay shop in Canada, the only place I could find awesome looking custom pick guards!

I used to play an ESP TA200, but have just sold it on eBay, and I have to admit, the Fender sounds so much better.
