I recently acquired an aftermarket bridge for a Jazz bass that surrounds the bridge pickup. Kind of like on a Telecaster guitar. This means that the bridge pickup is closer to the saddles than normal. Was this a feature on a certain Fender model, or was this specifically made for a non-Fender bass?

I remember seeing those in a 90s Musicians Friend or AMS catalog. I think they were brass, but not sure. It would require the position of the bridge J pickup to be an exact distance from the bridge saddles.
