I have an American Standard body that I want to fit with the Thin C 9.5"r maple neck (aka the Geddy Lee!). I'm more a fan of that neck, and from looking at my current GL and the AS body, it looks like it'll fit. Any gotchas or "what are you crazy!?" things I should know?

Further specs:

Body is Blizzard Pearl, white pickguard

Badass III (gold)
Hipshot Tuners, with a D-tuner (gold)
70s reissue pickups (good tone)
standard pots and knobs
Control plate (gold)

American bodies are drilled on the back for through-body stringing. If you've a BADASS III bridge, you should have no problems.

The original Geddy Lee neck has a bullet truss rod adjustment on the headstock. However, American necks use the posiflex truss-rod system with graphite support bars, that's why some Fender pickguards are notched for heel-mounted truss-rod adjustments.

The only graphite necks featuring black blocks and binding are the Deluxe necks. They feature 21 frets instead of 20, requiring some modifications to the regular American bodies to fit properly.

If you've problems with the Geddy Lee neck, ask Ken Warmoth to build you an "American Series" replica of the original with the graphite reinforcements.

Thanks for the info, since the GL neck is a 20 fret, I don't expect any issues. I suppose I could just take the neck off the GL bass I have and see if it fits!

I did note the notched pickguard on the American, the screw holes are also not exactly the same as the GL body, also. I'll post up some pics of the work in progress. Thanks again!

Don't forget to post a couple of videos of this Jazz on YouTube and some MP3s. I'll be very happy to see your baby in action!
