Got mine saturday. It's a blast to play. It's a MIM Jazz Bass Std. I swapped the white pickguard for a off white perloid one.

I like the pearloid pg. Nice bass. How many watts is the Rumble?

Yeah, I'm lookin' around for a practice amp. My wife hates the Hartke when I play in the house (500w), so I had sold my combo a few years back and I shouldn't have. It was a Trace Elliot - 350w, and I'd used that one for practice and it was a really nice amp to play with. I'm going to try out a 15w(I think) Rumble tomorrow.

I've been using an old Rickenbacker TR35 for my practice amp. Sounds pretty nice. I've also got an old Fender Musicmaster 12 watt tube amp I use. My Ampeg SVT only gets used when playing with my boys.

I went today to ck out the Rumble 15, it's gone, so I ck'd out a Peavey 25w, but it's been sitting there for apx 2 yrs, they would sell it for $93+tax. So I went to my usual music store, they have a brand new Ibanez 20w, they'll sell to me for $89 + tax. I'm gonna convince my wife to buy this I think. It sounds really nice, for what it is. I play through an old Hartke Transient Attack 5000 with KMD cab, but that's for the gigs, and I've sold my practice amp - Trace Elliot 350 watt with 7 band eq. How are the SVT's? I like Ampeg, but kinda high end for me - eg. expensive, but it's an Ampeg quality too tho.

Well, the Ampeg SVT is the only amp to gig with IMO if you want that classic fat tube tone. I've got the classic SVT 300 watt head (that's "tube watts" which are like 1,500 solid state in terms of output) and several cabinets I use and combine depending on the venue. The only downside is they're heavy -- 85 lbs just for the head, and the cabs vary from 70-170 lbs.

If you like Fender amps, they have a tube amp that seems based off the Ampeg design but costs a few hundred less. I've not done a direct comparison but I know someone who has both the Fender and Ampeg and likes both.

I've had the Fender amp in HS, that's was a while back...lol, remember the M80 :D I like it for what it was, cheap/decent in one combo. Not a good amp for gigs. Well, my Hartke is 500 w, combination tube/solid state. It puts out good volume for the gigs I used to do. One day I'll get an Ampeg. I'm leaning to the 20w Ibanez for the practice amp for now. Sorry op for the off topic. Thanks for the reply Mastermold.

dumb question, but I'm a beginner at bass....

What knobs do what?

I think the first knob is master volume, the second is tone, but what does the last one do?

This is my "JezzaBelle" - 2008 American Standard Fretless. I also own a 1978 PBass lovingly referred to as "Big Bertha". She's a beast. You can see a pic of her on the Precision Bass board. I have an old Fender BXR300 amp that I play through. Old but LOUD!!!!

I hope you like looking at her as much as I like playing her! My new baby!! Bertha is jealous but she needs to go on a diet but that ain't happening!!! LOL!!

Here is my '97 American Deluxe 5-string J-bass in Teal Green Metallic (I think that's the color).

If anyone can confirm the name of the color, or give me the actual color name, that would be awesome. I bought it around Christmas of '98 on consignment, and I've never known the actual name of the color.

Okay, if anyone can explain to me how to post images, there would be some pictures of my '97 American Deluxe 5-string J-bass in Teal Green Metallic (I think that's the color).

For images that are on your computer, you will need to find an image hosting site such as photobucket. Create an account and upload your photos there, you can resize them to message board size(640X480, I think). Once uploaded(if you're using photobucket), look under the photo at the 4 different links. Click on "IMG code" and it will copy it for you, then come here and paste away. You won't need to use the "IMG" button on here if you do it like I described since it already puts the [IMG]'s where they need to be.
Hope this can help.
