It's actually funny how many different shades of white there can be, when technically, it's the absence of color, like black. There's different shades of that, too.

Different shades, or hues of white are influenced by surrounding light, or lighting. Olympic White is one of those that is easily influenced. This pic is probably the most pure Olympic White.

I remember one time you had a pic of another white Jazz that made me wonder how it would reflect under a black light. It looked almost fluorescent in that one.

That was a MIM Spl. Edition Opal Pearl Jazz. Something like that.

Oh yeah, I remember those. They had a whole series of those with the various models (Tele, Strat, Jazz, Precision.)

They didn't make up a lot of those either.

Yeah, I wonder if they'll have any value down the road?

They were based on the MIM Standards. The bases in the series were $599., as the Standard series ran at that time.

Yeah, in other words, the same mass-produced instrument, but with a different finish than normal. Who knows, 40 or 50 years down the road what could happen, though? I've noticed how the 70's and even into the early 80's models have jumped up in price.

Yeah, but those are more of a series. That Opal wasn't that unusual to make it a rare bass.

That's true. I think you'd need something more special than that then a paint job, probably.

A little science nitpick here.
Only black is the absence of colour.
True white is the presence of all the colours.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
