Agreed about that as well. It's almost more of a hassle to remove it, than just leave it in place.

No, but I saw the parts diagram, and it wasn't overly hard. The one thing that put the stop for me messing with it, it was right above the pup, and it appeared to maybe raise, or lower the pup. I just don't like getting into another job that I'm intending to do.

From what I understand, it is actually a part of the pickup, and not just some cover, or at least the early models had this. It was some sort of magnetic thing. I'm not sure if that's still the case with these, or just a decorative thing they kept so it looks the same.

I just left mine as is, and they were fine without me messing things up.

That's usually the best course of action.

Yep. The Ric's are a bit to pricy for me to just start screwing around with em'.

All of this Ric talk is starting to give me GAS for them. :P That's OK, since I don't have GAS funds.

Have to admit, I think that's how I was drawn into the Ric side. However now, I feel good playing the two Jazzes I play now, and they keep me away from Ric octane GAS! SA, and Ric had the 24, and 36 month payments going, that ric no longer participates in. That makes it out of the realm for me. That's ok with me. I'm a now dedicated Jazz player.

Yeah, those type of payment plans do make it a lot easier to buy the high end stuff, as long as you can also make the payments, that is. AMS has all kind of deals like that going on, but they don't carry Rics. I think they might have years ago, but I'm not sure.

I don't miss any of the Rics I had. I know that for sure. Sweetwater has them now, as well as GC.

Did you have any Rics way back in the day?

No,..... I never had any Rics until a few years ago. I used the 24 or36 month plans. But like I said before, the Jazzes are so comfortable for me to play.

Certainly more affordable, for the most part. I wonder why Ric stopped allowing the payment plans? It seems like they have a lot of restrictions when it comes to their instruments, especially where pricing is concerned.

They had to pay in for the payment plan, along with whatever store was working in conjunction with them. I guess they may have considered the basses would sell anyway, and they may have lost a bit of revenue paying in on a plan. There are a lot of folks out there credit cards, and will pay out $1,949. plus tax for a 4003.
