You had that from some old bass you use to have?

Yep. It didn't take up any storage space, so I hung on to it.

Probably a good thing, since cases are friggin' expensive.

Yep. They sure are. It's a Fender Tweed Jazz case.

Those are nice cases. I never had one, though. Just the black ones.

It's the case that's just under the G&G Deluxe case.

Yeah, that's one thing I'll have to invest in when I'm out gigging with my hollowbody. Too risky carrying it around without one. By the way, I think I got one of the last ones in black. They don't have anymore listed on their site, other than sunburst, natural, and white. Although, they still had a black one in fretless. It could be just sold out, though. My girlfriend wanted to eventually get one for herself. If it doesn't come back, then sunburst would be OK. It's not like I don't have any sunburst instruments to begin with.

This time of the year things can run out of stock pretty quick. Some sunburst basses do look good also.

True, it was just on sale for $99, so there's that. I was lucky to get it when I did.

I moved a couple of Jazzes, and have this one.

What made you decide to do that?

I have the Maple board on the USA Geddy Lee Jazz, and I wanted one Rosewood Jazz. So the White Opal is nice, but it's not up to an Am. Std. Rosewood Jazz. I sold off the White Opal, and the Am. Std. Maple. The pups on the USA GL sound good with the Maple, and on the Am. Std., I'm liking the the CS60's with the Rosewood, and Nylons. Who knows.
I also wanted to get an Am. Std. at the still $200. off price. I can't see paying $1,500. for the new, and improved (Am. Std./Am. Pro.) they're so similar in make up.

Well, that actually makes sense from where you're coming from. Those three Jazzes were essentially the same with the maple and unless you're doing a lot of touring, and you need a backup of a bass, instead of one with a totally different tonal option, then that is a way to go. That bass definitely has a 60's vibe to it, and the Geddy Lee more of a 70's, I think. Pretty cool bass. 8)

The USA GL is the real keeper for me, and I can for see the Rosewood Am. Std. sticking around as well. On looks, I like the Am. Std. Jazz Rosewood in 3-Color Sunburst, over the Am. Std. Olympic White with Rosewood. Just me I guess.
